Riga Region Restaurants

  • Great Uzbek cuisine

The restaurant is well decorated, pleasnt and reasonably calm. Music is on, not too loud though and the choice is relevant to the atmosphere. Interior romms are especially decorated in a traditinal way. Pilaff kind of preparations are very well interopreted and served. extremely tasty, soft and pleasnt to eat. Egg-plant stffed with cheese were...

  • Good pizza

We saw these restaurants many pkaces, and finally decided to go.Pizza was good, and you could choose from three sizes. They had terraces outside at summer, witch is important to me.Funny thing for us,was that locals put ketchup and mayo to pizza!!!We saw that in many places, when walked by,and now the waiter gave us the bottles-we didn´t try!Looks...

  • Looking for Pizza?

Looking for inexpensive place to eat pizzas? Try out Pizza Jazz in the city center (right on Dome Square) and Chili Pizza in such shopping malls as Mols and Alfa Centrs. Pizza Jazz is also good for salads and desserts. In Chili I would strongly recommend only pizzas (Greek - yummi) and desserts.

Great variety of many local dishes - hot, cold, soups, cakes, with meat, fish, vegetarian... Cosy athmosphere in a (huge) log-built building, various outbuildings and small shops, own brewery, skating rink...More to come! Just pick what you like! Mushroom dishes and fresh fruit salads (in summer) are especially recommended!

  • Chocolate's paradise

You'll find many variants of chocolates, candies from chocolates in the Chocolate Bar. If you're hungry you can order meat or fish meals, but be ready that they will be dacoreted or spiced by chocolate. Liquid chocolad with red pepper - an excellent way how to warm in cold winter's evenings.

  • Nostalgiga

I understand this was a Soviet Cafe. Very interesting interior décor! It’s worth going to just to see that alone. Very pleasant ambience! Extensive menu, but I thought it was a little expensive for Latvia. On my first visit to Riga, I went twice, so I must have liked it. Had a coffee on the first visit and a beer on the other. On my second visit I...

It´s tea time here - they claim to serve 70 sorts of tea here, and you can pick the atmosphere. • Latvian kitsch

The Latvian equivalent of Chlopski Jadlo, the Polish "peasant food" outlet. I dug the grey peas and bacon, though it costs more here than even in the heart of the old town. Decent beers on offer - from Lido (the owner) and Uzava. The fried rye bread comes with garlic in Latvia (as opposed to Lithuania) and is much better for it. English speaking...

Our third and final pizza restaurant was Pizza Malibu, it was also good pizza but Cili Pizza still takes the top pizza prize from me.The interior of the restaurant was a little gimmicky, but it reminded me more of Hawaii than it did Malibu, especially the leis that the waitresses wore.We ate downstairs but saw many people coming from the second...

  • Something from Lithuania

It was a nice surprise to see famous Lithuanian pizzas-net "PizzaJazz" in Riga, as well. Unfortunatelly we haven't go in, because of the lack of the time. But I'm sure the meal should be the same as in Lithuania. Then you just MUST try it ;-)

  • More hearty cafeteria style Latvian food

Vermanitis is similar to Dzirnavas, both are owned by the Lido group, both are cafeteria style with similar pricing. I think there is less seating at this restaurant, it was almost full on the day we went for lunch. The interior was a little more modern, if you want more of a old world ambiance go to Dzirnavas. Same type of food as Dzirnavas-lots...

  • Hearty cafeteria style Latvian food

Part of the very popular Lido group of restaurants, this was the best place we ate at in Riga, I liked it so much we ate here twice. The food is served cafeteria style, but unlike a lot of buffet type restaurants, the food has mostly just been cooked and is still piping hot. Grab a tray and the servers, who all spoke English very well, will dish up...

  • Fast food American style

There are refreshingly few American fast food outlets in Riga, besides this McDonald's, I only saw one other in Riga plus a couple of Baskin Robbins ice cream carts and a TGIFriday's. Riga is filled with good inexpensive local options to try, so why stop here?I confess though that we went in here twice, overseas McDonald's still fry their apple...

  • Best pizza in Riga

Cili Pizza, a Lithuanian chain, gets my vote for the best pizza in Riga. We stopped at the location near Stockman's Department store twice to have pizza. It's a busy place, we had a short wait to get a table but service is quick and the pizzas don't take long to make since they are thin crust. Pizzas in Riga are a bit different than American...

This is a quick place to grab lunch or dinner, there was almost always a line but it goes quick. This location is open very late, open 9am-4am.All the Pelmeni are the same price and weighed at the end, I think our total bill for 2 drinks and 2 bowls of pelmeni was around 2 lv ($4 US) and the drinks were most of the cost.
