Citas Debesis: If you can eat surrounded by neon colors...

Already seeing this place is worth going there - the couple of dozen small bright red balls hanging under the ceiling are lamps; there are mirrors; strange patterns; and a lot of neon colors that will make sensible minds switch into headache mode. But hey, it looks really cool. And the food is tasty. And the service is great. And the location is very favorable. So the Different Sky (that's what Citas Debesis means) is one you should see.

John Lemon: Snacks or Pizza in between

John Lemon doesn't only serve pizza, but - don't miss the pizza! Besides this tasty flat Italian food, they serve a variety of omelettes and casseroles, salads and breakfast stuff. All for reasonnable prices and until 5 in the morning - which is especially delightful cause just across the road, there's one of the most interesting clubs in town...A favorite hangout for Riga's boheme ;-)

Russkij Dvor (Russian Yard): Russian flavor

A Russian restaurant with waiters dressed in traditional outfits and Russian background music completes the "thirteen-in-a-dozen" ambiente of the Russian Yard. A huge choice of Slovenian traditional dishes, such as stuffed pig legs, holodets, borsch, pampuschki, pelmeni, kvass and kisel. Sweet pelmeni with cherries. The best!

LIDO: Latvian McDonalds

Local food chain that offers wide variety of food at very democratic prices. The food simmers mouth-wateringly before your eyes and customers are often at a loss as to what to choose. There are 4 most visited LIDOs in Riga (2 in the center, 1 huge place on Krasta, and Russian LIDO on Maskavas)Krasta LIDO is first place visited by all the tourists. It is one of the largest corner-jointed building in Europe, hosting up to 1000 guests, presenting a unique type wooden building. Moscow's mayor loved it and invited Latvian enterpreneur to open LIDO in Russia. LIDO has expanded to Lithuania, Vlinius. The key to success is food quality/price ratio in an ethnic Lativan style atmosphere. Design of all places is great. You eat either in a celler among cheese and sausages, or in the cowshed (LIDO on Dzirnavinu). Fish, smashed potatoes, deserts, pizzas, pastas.

Outside the very center of Riga. This place is visited mostly by locals or experienced ex-pats. I find the restaurant cosy and reasonably priced with wide choice of pastas, main courses and wines. Love pastas, breads... everything I guess

Centrally located trendy bar with great coctails and good music. On Friday's and Saturday's the place gets full and it turns into one of Riga electronica&trip-hop dance floor. On weekdays, the place plays nice jazz background music. I would say it is a MUST in the warm summer night, located in Berga Bazars, closed shopping & restaurant gallery, lightened by night. coctails, coctails

garlic Restaurant: Garlic Restaurant!!!

All the foods have garlic in them, even the desserts!! I absolutely loved the taste of my pasta and salmon, (with garlic sauce of course). Unfortunately I don´t know the exact address and can´t even remember the prices for this place, but it was somewhere in the old town and I´m sure it wasn´t too very expensive, we had a small budget. The atmosphere was really nice and as said the food is delicious!! If you like garlic, this is a must!
