All dishes, like the tandoori and curry, are so veritably Indian, it`s almost overhelming.Food is really tasty, the porcions are very large so don`t take three dishes in a time per person unless you are really hangree like a wolf... :))#Tip from me... Go inside till the end of the second hall and place yourself on the cosy red sofas in a private rooms for romance and intimacy... Forgot what was the dish`es name but is was a plate of everything by little. Great possibility to try many things in a time for just 6LS... :))

The buildings were built using specially selected Latvian fir-trees. Most of them - 100+ years old. LIDO center represents a unique type of wooden building – gulbuve. It is the largest of its kind both in Latvia and in Europe. Currently there are “Alus pagrabs” (Beer Basement), Bistro hall and Swedish table located in the Center.The recreation center can host 1000 visitors with various tastes: from vegetarians, to lovers of fat sausages. “LIDO Recreation Center” is proud of its mini restaurant-type brewery – first in Latvia. It produces exclusively unfiltered beer. Also the center is proud of its sweetshop where people can buy fresh muffins, cakes and pies all day long. This is a great Restaurant with loads of Atmosphere. It’s very popular with Latvians, especially young Latvians. Always seemed very busy at lunch time and in the evenings, but there seemed to be a good turn over of customers so don’t be put off if it’s busy when you arrive. It’s self service so get a beer from the bar, grab a seat and then think about the food. There’s an English menu available, but do have a look at the food as its prepared. It all looks good. The lads behind the food counter have enough English to help you out.Prices are great. About £ Ir 5 for starter, main course and a couple of beers. Part of the Lido chain. Ýf you like to eat some traditional Latvian food, 'Lido' which you can find in the very place in riga (but I recommend the one in 'Elizabetes iela') And there is another plca called 'XL Pelmeni' this is a place where you can eat 'Pelmeni' another Latvian food I guess. Whatever you do don't go to 'Nostalgia', it's a russian place and too very much expensive (please don't get me wrong I'm not against Russian food or something) Pelmeni with smoked meat, (cheap and good) they also have vegetarian.and anything you can find in 'Lido'( be careful about 'Kefirs', a latvian drink, made up by yogurt, I liked it but as I've been told I'm the only foreinger who liked it :)
There are dozens. The best is Vincent's, but it costs the earth. My lady's daughter likes Aragats, which is Georgian/Armenian, so we go there often. Shashliks of course, but the best thing is the Georgian red wine Khvanchkara in a strange narrow blue (!) bottle. Ooogh!
Chain of Lido restaurants. These are the restaurants where all guests of Riga are beeing fed by their hospitable hosts. I was told that foreign presidents are also fed there, though they have special menus and even special dishes (to complete old-Latvian style, metal forks are substituted by woolen ones for these occasions)I know a lot of people who are ready to go Riga any time even if they only have a chance to visit Lido. In most cases, there is a buffet, where you can choose from respected number of items of local and European cuisines. Food is prepared as quickly as in fast food restaurants, but tastes very good even for a'la carte restaurant.
