The Skyline Bar is on the 26th floor of Reval Hotel Latvija - and this must be one of Riga's best places for cocktails. The huge windows give you an unbeatable view of Riga, and even though the place is pretty popular it should be possible to get a window seat if you show a little patience... (I've been here many times, and we always manage to get a window seat eventually...when we can be bothered.... :o)
The clientele seems to consist mainly of tourists, expats & local businessmen (the latter often accompanied by a youngish girl or three) - but it's still a good place to have a cocktail or five while enjoying the panoramic view of Riga - perhaps before moving on to a place with a bit more atmosphere. Skyline bar was redecorated in March / April 2006, and the place is now really quite stylish!
The cocktail menu is pretty extensive, and most cocktails are priced between 3.50 and 5 lats.

In Riga are enough of clubs for all tastes. There are places with Latvian music, with Russian music, with disco music as well as jazz and blues places.
Mostly all clubs are open till the very morning or until the last client.
Most of them are located in Old Town, so you can find them very easy. But in that case you will meet a lot of foreigners in there and if you want to see how locals is having fun you have to look for the place away from center of the city. Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub

We had a lovely little VT meeting with ritaz there and without this suggestion we might not have experienced this fabulous nightlife spot. The service is fast and friendly, the cocktails excellent, the only drawback for me was that the music was way too loud! So unfortunately it was VERY difficult to have a decent conversation!
One nice thing was that totally unexpectedly we saw a most beautiful firework over the nicely illuminated city - wow, thank you Rita, that was not necessary, but absolutely spectacular!!! ;-)
The Skyline bar is open until 2 a.m., on Fridays and Saturdays until 3 a.m.

Apparently the name in English is Captain Enrico's Watch is the name of a classic Rigan film from the 1960's. This seems like a fairly trendy joint, popular with 20 something locals. We strayed in from our hotel, The Albert which was just across the road and the night became a highlight of the trip.
Dropping in fairly late in the evening, after 9pm, we were still able to grab a bite to eat. Grilled salmon steak with mashed potato with sundried tomato and leek, in a mushroom sauce was great and a good price at 4.70 lats. Burrito also got the thumbs up around the same price.
Then the cocktails started flowing... I'm not sure how full this place gets, it was quiet enough for us on a Saturday night to stay seated and be served at the table by the very friendly waitress who spoke perfect English. Cocktails were between 3.00 for a normal one (Pina Colada or the gorgeous raspberry daquiri) or 4.75 for a massive (lovely) Mai Tai. They were pretty strong, but miraculously in the morning neither of us had hangovers despite us pretty much getting through half the cocktail menu between us before leaving in a snowstorm at 3am.
