An extremely nice place with an extremely nice view... its nice to go there at night but also during the day! There's a friendly staff, prices are okay and there's a nice mix between locals and tourists!
One of the nicest bars I have ever been to.

Really good bar to visit at night, to get the full effect of the candlelit surrounding. You enter from the door on the main road, but then immediately go down a set of stairs in to the cellar.
There you will find comfy leather sofas and a great cocktail menu.

During the daytime, the club Pulkvedim Neviens Neraksta (Nobody Writes to the Colonel) is a restaurant and bar. At night, it turns into a nightclub.
Nice sounds mixed here, music tends to be local DJ's performing rather than playing requests or abba's greatest hits or best of Kylie. There are two dance areas, downstairs in the basement seems to be more of a chill zone while upstairs is where the real dancin goes on. Lots of friendly people in this club and no kick off atmosphere which was nice. Only downside is that we did not know where to get a kebab after we left.
The club is named after Gabriel Garcia Marquez's famous novel has withstood the test of time and now can be named among the best alternative clubs in Riga. This is a place where young people gather to communicate, enjoy good music or just to hang out. The club is marked by excellent design and different music that varies from punk to fusion and acid jazz.
Dress Code: No dress code policy as far as I could see, I went in T-shirt, jeans and Trainers.

This cocktail bar is located on the 26th floor of the Reval Hotel Latvija - which means that you have unrivalled views over the city of Riga. Ideally I would recommend coming at sunset in the summer - it must be spectacular from here on a clear night.
Dress Code: There is no former dress code other than the necessity to look smartish - however, as with a lot of establishments in Riga, there is a "face check" so if the bouncers don't like the look of you, then you'll not get let in.

A typical Irish bar which has become a very popular place with expats - football on Sky around the clock and Rugby shown, making it a natural choice for many. There is cheap and plentiful food - from all day breakfast, through sandwiches and typical "Irish fayre".
Apparently as Riga has become a new hotspot for stagnights, it has become very popular with stag parties - and all the trappings that they bring with them. Usually very quiet during the day but heaving at night,

Idalgo is a small and friendly, easily missed Spanish bar in a brick walled cellar in the old town. They serve wines and cocktails allthough the wine list wasn't as good as inyourpocket.com let us believe. Nonetheless this is a nice place for a quiet drink with very affordable prices.
