Pomodoro is a reasonably priced Italian restaurant located on a quiet side street in the old town. The interior is warm and cosy, and the long menu very tempting with its pastas, pizzas etc. Pomodoro is, however, much more than your average pizzeria and is that for suitable for all kind of situations. Although Riga doesn’t get praises for having the most friendliest waiters/waitresses, I must say that here I had the friendliest service of all the places I have visited in Riga.
Favorite Dish: I don’t remember the proper name, but I had tortellini with ham, and it was very tasty.

On my husband's birthday we went to this restaurant. We always like to go to places that serve local food, and all the reviews that we had read about were full of praise for this place. It is in a cellar very near the Freedom Column. The food was delicious, life music was played and the value for money was excellent! While waiting for our food, we were served some of the famous Latvian dark bread with lard - boy, that was a perfect start to what was to come!!!
Favorite Dish: My husband had zander fillet and I had pork fillet with sauerkraut and the best mashed potatos ever!!! As an appetizer we had a delicious soup and a sort of diced meat salad, which was a surprise, since I did not remember ordering it, but it tasted good!

This is a fast food chain that has pizzerias all over Riga (and Vilnius, too). They don't serve only pizza, but also salads, pasta, soups, beer snacks and delicious desserts and coffees. The service was quick and the staff was friendly, although some of them didn't speak English. We only had salads there, the portions were small, but as they were meant for starters it's understandable.
There was lots of pizzas to choose from, and you could also choose the size of your pizza from 20 cm to 50 cm in diameter. As we didn't try the pizzas I can't recommend any, but they looked very tasty!
Favorite Dish: Greek salad, for dessert a carrot cake with chocolate sauce, orange slices and walnuts.

Double Coffee are a chain of coffee shops which can be found in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
The cafes also have wireless internet connection, access costs 0.94 Ls for an hour or 9.95Ls for an entire day.
All shops have a non smoking area and have the usual comfy seats you expect at coffee shops these days.
Double offer a good range of food and drink all of which are listed in their menus that are cleverly disguised as a magazine!
Favorite Dish: I had a costa Rica coffee which was very nice, however, it is the food that sets this chain of coffee shops apart from others.
I tried their 'real' beef burger with melted blue cheese chips and salad. All for around £5.
Their pancakes also looked very popular!

This is a very nice chain of coffee bars in Latvia. It's nice to have a break during a walk in one of the many Double Coffees in the centre of Riga. Most of them have a very nice decoration and the menu is very variated!

The restaurant is down some stairs from the entrance at ground level. Don't be put off by the fact that you have to pay a small cover charge (LVL 0.60) to enter - this is for the live music that is on (if you go during the evening).
The food is typically Latvian and there are also menus available in German and English. Portions tend to be very much towards the large end of things - and are very cheap - a main course is often no more than about LVL2-3.
Local music groups play a mixture of Latvian and international music - we heard Beatles songs and Latvian rock when we were there. It seems to be a place where locals go to have fun at the end of the week - there were a lot of large tables there and later on, a lot of people were getting up and starting dancing.
Favorite Dish: I enjoyed some great black pudding with red cabbage here - and it was washed down with some very agreeable beer.

it's more than a restaurant, it's almost 3 restaurants, one of them called "Beer Basement", because all food is served with local beer.
it looks like a windmill and it's an unique type of wooden building, interiors are all decorated and very nice to look.
outside is even better...huge place where kids can really hv lot of fun...it's perfect for a family with kids but also for who wants to enjoy the local food.

Well, its too expensive and the interior makes you feel like you're in England, but if you like it. ...however the toilette for men is just georgeous, have a look for yourself, and see why I liked it.

In some way these pizzas differ from those in Pizza Jazz, but they also are very tasty. The menu is quite large, so you can choose various pizzas and besides them here are also salads and delicious other food. The pizzas here are a little bit fat.
I liked here hot drinks, but didn't like desserts.
The service is rather good, so they serve food very fast.
The best atmosphere is at Colonnade, near Laima clock and on Stockmann center.
Favorite Dish: Calzone, Delicioza, Lambada, Chicken pie with king boletus

Went there 3 times, both for lunch and dinner, during my 5 day stay in Riga. The food was excellent from starters, home made pastas, soups (try chiopino soup) to main courses and desserts, and affordable, the atmosphere - great, as you expect from an Italian restaurant, service - professional but maybe too much unobtrusive, for an Italian place:-) think my best dining experience during my trip to Latvia and Estonia.
Favorite Dish: Chiopino soup - tomato soup with seafood.
Tagliatelle with salmon fillet and seafood
Sea Bass with mashed potato spinach
