Memories of my favourite city of Rotterdam came back in Riga after seeing this bridge. OK, Erasmusbrug is still superior that Riga’s counterpart, but I have to admit that I like this older bridge as well. Finished in 1982, it must have been one of the most avantgardist bridges of its time. It is part of Kr.Valdemara iela, linking the northern part of the old town with the western parts of Riga. It’s spire has a height of 109 meters. With around 1/3 of Riga’s car traffic over Daugava river, it is the second busiest bridge after Salu Bridge which accounts for almost half of the traffic.
This is a bridge over Daugava river.

I heard it is spectacular sight at night, sadly I only have picture taken by day....
Though I am not a fan of modern architecture I must admit that I really liked the harp-like Vansu tilts/bridge.
