Small firm's shops in many places in The Old Riga: Chocolate by "Laima"

by LanaFromRiga

"Laima"s chocolate can buy in each shop. There are many small shops in the Old Riga. In the photo is one of "Laima"s shops. Chocolates, assorted chocolates, sticks of chocolate, bars of chocolate. Very delicious dark chocolate! Democratic prices: for the classical assorted chocolates you will pay 1,50Ls (2,25EUR)

Go to the Central Market

by Fen

Riga's central market, 5 palivion's of meats, dairy, veg, grocery and fish.See my travel log for my pics and info. Whatever takes your fancy, some of the sellers will even let you try abit of the food you want, before you buy. Great if you like me and likes trying new foods. Prices are really good, so you don't have to worry about it. Maybe certain items will be expensive, like certain types of Fresh Fish or some meats. But in General you should be fine.

Any Souvenir Shops: What to bring from Latvia?

by in4ik

Any Souvenir Shop Latvian linen which is significantly cheaper compared to European prices. Riga Black Balsam - a historical liqueur prepared from herbs, flowers, juices and medicinal roots (includes 24 ingredients). Amber , the so called "Baltic Gold" is a very symbolic Latvian souvenir. It comes in very different qualities and colours. Woolen sweaters, mittens and socks with Latvian folk symbols. As per my experience, these are the most appreciated gifts by all my foreign friends!!!

Olin Bolin, Lacuks: Wanna buy Dome Square? Now you can do it!

by Linndy

The Latvian version of the board game MONOPOLY has local businessmen and politicians struggling to understand the rules. Although it won`t teach you the Latvian words for "bribe" or "Mafia" it still should be an educational entrepreneurial experience. About 18Ls = ~30$

Central Market: Love bargines?

by Linndy

This giant bazaar with its five huge aircraft hangars is a truly fascinating place to visit. Buy meat, fish and produce inside. Buy CDs, appliances and closing outside of the hangars for suspiciously low prices. Cheep stuff but check twice before you buy it.

Palazzo Italia: Feel rich?

by Linndy

Classy departament store on six floors. Quality and stile. Georgeous clothes at prices for people that flew to Latvia in a private jet, from an island named after them. Restaurant, pizzeria and Italian food store on the ground floor. In this six-floor fashion centre, which includes more than a dozen shops, a restaurant and a bar-pizzeria, they pamper music and movie stars from around Europe, tourists from around the world and fashion-savvy locals from around the corner. The shops include apparel, shoes, cosmetics, jewellery, luggage and accessories for men, women and children from Italy's best labels. $$$ EXXXPENSIVE!!! $$$

Flea market: Flea market

by orlikins

The Flea market is at the back of the train station, and it's listed as a touist attraction, but to be honest, I cant see how it could be? It's really for local housewives and traders, what would we want to buy big chunks of meat and cabbage for? Foodstuffs, second hand clothes.

Groceries: What bring from Latvia?

by LanaFromRiga

Country black bread “Lachi” (bears). It keeps good for two weeks. You will find it in most groceries and at the central market. From 1,5 LVL

Book-shop: Postcards

by ginte

If you have meal at LIDO, visit the Book-shop near it. There you can find many postcards with Riga's views and they are cheaper than at the center of the town.
