As passenger train services to Ventspils stopped some time ago, the only way to reach Ventspils with public transport is by bus (not counting international ferry services to Sweden and Germany…). The coach services runs almost hourly, with many services being direct ones. These services take only three hours to Ventspils (including a short 20 minutes break on the way), while other services to Ventspils stop quite everywhere and may take up to five hours. The coaches are surely not the most modern ones, but they are OK. A one-way ticket will cost you 4,00 Lat (2007). Get the Bus at Riga’s central coach station (close to the central market). Ventspils’ bus station is located at Kuldigas Iela, 200 meters away from the old town.
The bus station is busy, good local service as well as to Riga, Kuldiga and Liepaja.
Some buses used are 16 seaters but they,re not too crowded and reasonably comfortable.

From Riga to Ventspils you can go using bus. Every 2 hours from Central Riga’s bus station is the bus to Ventspils. Just 3 hours and you are in Ventpils. Ticket’s price is 3,50Ls (one-way).
