 | Liechtenstein Packing Lists | Tips 1 - 5 of 5 | | Popular Packing Lists | Miscellaneous Packing Lists Tips | All Tips (5) Liechtenstein is a potentially good place to set up a foundation or stiftung. One can secretly fund it with money and the foundation registers with the government under a local partner, often an attorney. You should check with your legal counsel on whether this is safe or whether you want to be named as a trustee. If you are named as trustee, it is no longer secret, but then you have absolute control of the money as transactions require your signature. You have to be present to start a foundation so start one before you leave or you may be forced to come to this interesting country again! (addendum: No, I don't have enough money to start my own foundation :) Leave a Comment

The weather in April went from cold to warm and back again in a millisecond. Be flexible and use layers that you can add and remove, and bring an umbrella. I've never visited in winter, but snow is probably a problem even down in the valleys and along the Rhine.
Definitely bring a camera. However, battries and film are not a problem and are even reasonably priced - at least by European standards. Also, the Prince's Castle at night is quite spectacular. If you are any good at night photography, it might be worth bringing some higher speed film.
In the winter, bring your skis if you are into that kind of thing. Good hiking shoes in the summer will allow you to hike the mountains that you would otherwise be skiing in the winter months.
The higher altitudes in Liechtenstein take longer to thaw out from winter. In early April, Vaduz was absolutely free of snow while Malbun still looked like January. If you wish to hike in the higher altitudes during the spring, bring shoes that you do not mind getting wet and that will keep your feet warm, but that are light enough so that you do not feel that you are carrying tons on your feet at the lower elevations. Even though we were here for only 1 day, we noticed that the residents of Liechtenstein dress pretty neatly and conservatively, so pack your bags with some 'safe' attire so you won't stand out as an OBVIOUS tourist. Yes, and please leave those sweatpants and old sneakers at home too! :-))
I ALWAYS, ALWAYS bring along at least 2 camaras with me... just in case one breaks down. One conventional camera (with Kodak film) and the other - my new Digital camera. Hey, 'tis a good idea to go high-tech! My friends used to laugh at me.... until their one and only camera broke down. Then when they had to RELY SOLELY on me and my amateurish photographic skills, they stopped laughing. Yes, immediately. Serve them right! :-))

I would suggest packing light and in layers since the weather varies according to the kind of day it is. Leave a Comment
