Nature and Modernisation together !

by Pakistaniguy

In this pic you can see the typical Liechtenstein house in the background and in the front my family is waiting for the cable car to come on the modern cable car facility here in Malbun, Liechtenstein. All over the country, you will notice that everything is properly made, neat and clean and in order. The natural beauty is preserved and its balanced with the modernisation.

High Mountains

by Pakistaniguy

High mountains of Liechtenstein are ideal for winter sports when they are covered by thick blanket of Snow and full of skiiers/tourists from all over the world. But in the summer you can see the real mountains without snow and prais the nature of this little heaven on earth - Liechtenstein.

I love the water streams in Liechtenstein

by Pakistaniguy

Yes, I really love the water streams coming down from the huge moutains in Liechtenstein. The water is cold and clear. If you are tired after long hiking and can't find any place for buying a drink, you can even drink it because its not contaminated ! There are many walk trails which you should try here. You'll be close to nature which means being close to God !

Postage Stamps

by gkitzmil

They were very nice about helping me get stamps from this nation. I believe that is a fair source of income for them. I could not really tell that I was in a different nation, though! --The Postage Stamp Museum (Briefmarkenmuseum) is very popular with most visitors to Liechtenstein since these small works of art travel the whole world and are in everybody’s mailbox daily. Rare stamps from Liechtenstein, historical documents, devices, equipment of the postal service history and special exhibits are presented in the museum. Free entrance. They even have a Postage Stamp Museum with Opening times: 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. IT is free

Gutenberg Castle

by gkitzmil

Gutenberg Castle dates back to the 13th century. After having been private property for many years, the state of Liechtenstein purchased the castle in 2002. In summer, various cultural events such as “Kultur-Treff Burg Gutenberg” take place in the courtyard. Visits: No access to the courtyard except for official events.

PASSPORT TIP.

by GrantBoone

It sounds simple but youll thank me for it when you get home! Make sure you go into the small post office/souvenir shop at the border with Switzerland. The old lady will stamp your passport with an ellaborate design for a small price. this is a souvenir in itself.

Schloss Vaduz... aka Castle of Vaduz

by Krystynn

Stand at the foot of this hill and photograph the famed Castle of Vaduz. Most travelers and tourists tend to overlook the tiny Kingdom of Liechtenstein and bypass it en route to larger and seemingly more important destinations. Despite its diminutive size and its relative anonymity amongst travelers, do you know that Liechtenstein has quite a lengthy history? I can't tell you much about its history except the fact that the country we know today came into being when the German Prince of Liechtenstein, Johann Adam, bought the Rhaetian domains of Schellenberg in 1699 and Vaduz in 1712 to achieve his goal of gaining a seat in the government. Liechtenstein's official separation from Germany occurred sometime in the mid-1800s. Well, since its official separation from Germany, there has not been an army in the country. Thus, for almost 150 years, Liechtenstein, like its neutral neighbor -...

Liechtenstein Tourist Office

by Krystynn

Visit the Liechtenstein Tourist Office. :-) Alright, this is a joke.... Well, that's me standing not far away from the Tourist Office here in Vaduz (the capital city). To collect MORE brochures and get more info about this great principality, of course. So little has been written about this beautiful country. Hence, my quick visit to the Tourist Office.

Rhine

by Buckz

All European school children learn about the Rhine, this massive river, a border since Caesar's Gallic wars and his attempts to pacify the Germans (Caesar built a bridge, march 3 legions over, engaged the enemy, beat them, returned over the bridge and burnt the bridge. I can never figure out why he bothered). It's significance in many wars since, its use for transport and electricity generation. However many great things have small beginnings, and this is the Rhine near Schaan before it enters lake constance. Not exactly the border and thoroughfare of the continent.
