Liechtenstein a country without Airport or Rails.

by Pakistaniguy

It is a very unique country without any airport or a railway station so you have to get yourself on to this Liechtenstein bus either from Austria or Switzerland in order to come here. But once you are in this small country the bus network is pretty good and it will take you to all the corners of Liechtenstein.

Getting There

by keeweechic

By Air : Liechtenstein has no airport and the closest one is Zurich (80 miles away) which has a railway station underneath it. .By Train : Buchs train station you can take the postbus (twice every hour) to Vaduz which is about a 15min drive..By car : the N3 motorway from Zürich will take you toward Liechtenstein; other major highways bring traffic from Germany and Austria..By Bus : There is a good bus link which connects to all the communities within the principality as well as to Feldkirch, Buchs/SG or Sargans and their connecting train service. There are also Taxi's and car rentals..

It's very easy to get to Vaduz from Switzerland (and other places, too, I'm sure, but I went there from Zurich). Trains/buses go there all the time. It's too small to worry about it. You can walk easily around Vaduz, and buses will take you different places in the country -- or you can rely on your feet.

Rent a car in Zurich, Switzerland. The trip is only about an hour and the views along the way are great. Also, I have been told that there is a rail line - the World Almanac says Liechtenstein has 12 miles of track - that runs through the north of the country. I have been told that there is a train station in Schaan, a town just north of Vaduz, that you can use. Frankly, I do not remember crossing railway tracks when I went north, and I do not remember seeing a train station in Schaan, nor seeing a sign for one - no surprise there. However, this may be an option for getting into Liechtenstein. As with getting to Liechtenstein, cars are the best bet for getting around. Although there is a bus service, it is not sufficiently flexible to get you to the different sites. Note, however, Liechtensteiners are not notorious for highlighting their sites and roads with signs. Additionally, although...

Postbus to Vaduz

by CliffClaven

Unless you are the type that charters a helicopter at Zürich airport to fly in and set up your 100 million dollar trust fund, you'll arrive in Liechtenstein by road. You can take a train from Zürich to Sargans, but there you'll have to change to a Liechtenstein post bus, that will cross the Rhine into the Principality and meander around a couple of villages before depositing you outside the main post office in Vaduz.

The only way to get there by plane is to fly into Zurich. Then you can rent a car. it is not far from the airport- If I remeber correctly, it was about an hour or so.There is a bus which goes around the country which I have been told is okay-I usually rent a car!
