Liechtenstein is very expensive

by mikelisaanna

Liechtenstein is a very expensive country to visit, partly because it uses the Swiss franc, which is a very strong currency. A pizza in a cafe cost us almost $20 and a lunch at the country's only McDonalds cost us around $10 per person. DOn't plan on spending a bunch of days there if you don't have the ability to afford it.

Don't get confused on the castle thing...

by sourbugger

Spot the deliberate mistake in the picture...It is actually of Castle Liechenstein, south of Vienna. It is where the country gets it's name from but any information on it will therefore be useless !The castle that overlooks the country is called Vaduz castle and is off-limits to tourists as it is the private residence of the prince and his family. You can however get surprisingly close up to the place to take photographs.

Do not pluck any plant or grass in Malbun !

by Pakistaniguy

Here you can see how beautiful is Liechtenstein ! Malbun is the best resort of this little country. In this picture, the noticable thing is the little green sign board next my uncle. The signboard says that the area inside the fence is protected and if u plucked any plant, grass or anything from the ground, you'll be punished by 500 Swiss Francs !!! So, if u are a naughty tourist, be careful in Malbun !

Cows are your Friends!

by mtncorg

Remember to yield the right-of-way on high alpine tracks to livestock. They certainly aren't going to yield to you - unless you remembered to bring the mountain corgi with you. They are bred to clear the paths!!The picture is from the ridge between the Rhine on the right and the Samina on the left, and it shows about half of the Principality - the little pasture area midleft is Steg.

There are no real dangers to...

by James63

There are no real dangers to speak of, but sites and road signs, while present, are not conspicuous. Be sure to have a map even for a small country like this one. Although I usually avoid them, a stop at the very friendly tourist office in Vaduz is worth the time both for getting directions and for pointing out some of the less well known sites.

One Of The Safest Countries In Europe

by Krystynn

NONE!! Yes, Liechtenstein is one of the safest countries in Europe. Because the principality is so small, most people seem to know each other. So, you really don't have to worry much about crime in Liechtenstein. However, it is still advisable to maintain a close watch over your personal belongings and.... and.... do ensure that you don't conspicuously flaunt your Piaget watch or something. O.K.?

Blue cows don't have milk!

by Dabs

I just about died laughing when I saw this little boy go up to the plaster cow in Vaduz and pretend to, or at least I HOPE he was pretending, suck on this cow's teats. Talk about fresh milk ha ha

I felt quite secure.

by MyPegasus

It is really quite silent and secure country. I guess it is even more secure than any other swiss cities. The only problem is the poor trafic signs.Be carefull when you go for tracking!

by Skylink

Triesenberg is not too difficult to find though it is not well marked. When driving from Vaduz, turn left at the VW dealer.
