 | Druskininkai Sports Travel | Tips 1 - 7 of 7 | | Popular Sports Travel | Other Sports Travel Tips | All Tips (7) The biking is very popular in resort Druskininkai - it is like a part of treatment. There are good routes of travelling by bikes not only in Druskininkai, but about 15 kilometres or more around as well. The journeys consists of visiting old Lithuanian villages, some mounds, landscape of lakes, rivers and mainly pine tree forests. No problem with bike renting as well - there are such places here. An hour costed 5 litas (1.45 euros) for me at one place near Orthodox church , but locals said it is the one expensive place, so it could be less than 5 litas as well. Leave a Comment Theme: Biking

Excuse, I didn't use bicycle in Lithuania. But in Druskininkai some locals (not many) used to ride a bicycle, not for recreation but just in casual life, to do shopping for example. There were bike racks in front of some local stores/shops. I saw a few visitors riding a bicycle for recreation as well. Just in case... there were 55 km of bicycle tracks in Druskininkai and around. Although, generally, there were very few bicycle tracks in Lithuania except in Curonian Split (Baltic coast).
Bicycles were available for lease at some sanatoriums/hotels, for example in Egles Sanatorija. Leave a Comment

I met this kid, on my picture, riding a scooter on a walkway nearby Russian Orthodox church. Scooter has become fashionable mean of transportation among European kids for a few years, right? Is it European answer to American roller-skating?
I found "rent a scooter agency" at Laisves gatve (street), close to Russian Orthodox church. I didn't rent it. I thought, I needed XXL size :-). Price list: 5 min. - 3.00 Lt 10 min. - 5.00 Lt No customers and hmm... rather expensive transportation as for Lithuania :-). I could see two crazy teens (boys) riding a skateboard on specially designated place in Druskininkai. The place (how to call such place in English? skateboard obstacle/course?) was unfenced and looked like free and public. I didn't see any roller blading folks in Druskininkai. Well, skateboarding originates probably from surfboarding on the beaches of California, USA. Since early 80' roller-skating became much more popular in the USA.
Skateboard. XXXL T-shirt highly recommended :-) although not obligatory... look at my picture. Leave a Comment

Druskininkai was not that large. I could easily walk/hike around, including a little bit longer (over 40 min.) hiking around its main, round in shape lake called Druskonis. There were benches along walking trail... just in case you got tired.
For walking around Druskininkai, small, city backpack and surely bag for your camera - both water-proof esp. in summer. Comfortable walking shoes preferrably water-resistant: like good trainers or better special walking shoes (one example: Danish Ecco are very comfortable and... expensive but worth the cost). Sun-glasses esp. in winter and summer and always a rain coat, eventually less comfortable umbrella. Driving around Druskininkai I noticed two or three outdoor, clay tennis courts. Grass courts are probably only at Wimbledon, right? :-). The courts, I saw, were well maintained but empty. Just in case... follow the link below, please.
I prefer to play tenis with my own tennis racket and balls. I could easily rent a pedal boat at Turistu gatve (street) on the western bank of Druskonis lake in Druskininkai. There was only this one pedal boat, on my picture, in use. Well, the lake was not that large and its banks not that interesting but if you like to excersize musles of your legs... I preferred to walk around the lake. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
