Traffic was light there, forget about any traffic jams :-). There were a lot of place to park a car in Lazdijai (free!). It seems that locals either didn't have cars or they rarely used them. Well, the price of petrol/gas was almost the same as in, say, Germany but average salaries were... a few times lower. Most cars were old or very old. There were mostly German or other European cars in use. Add few old, post-Soviet cars like Lada (Zsiguli), Moskvich and Volga.
Main highway 134 was of good quality and well signed. Well, not at all, don't miss any direction signs as they are rarely repeated after crossroads. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

I parked my car on that parking lot, on my picture. It was unpaid and unguarded parking lot located by the through highway 134 (Vytauto gatve = street), on the right side driving from Kalvarija. Excuse, I didn't use bicycle in Lithuania. But in Lazdijai some locals (not many) used to ride a bicycle, not for recreation but just in casual life, to do shopping for example.
There were bike racks in front of SAULUTIS grocery and town hall.
Just in case... there were no bicycle tracks in Lazdijai and generally very few in Lithuania except in Curonian Split (Baltic coast). Leave a Comment Theme: Bicycle

This sign, on my picture, was put on one side of my parking lot. "Reservuota" means reserved in Lithuania. That sign below meant business days. So, do not park there on business days (Mon - Fri) unless you have special permission. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Lazdijai was accessible by scheduled buses from Kalvarija, Sestokai, Alytus and Druskininkai as well. Kalvarija and Sestokai were accesible by trains. Check your connection on European Train Timetable
The bus stop was located on main street (Vytauto gatve - Highway 134), driving from Kalvarija on the left side before reaching the main square (Nepriklausomybes aikste) opposite to my parking lot and parish church.
There were quite many people waiting for a bus there. The buses looked neither modern (surely no air-condition) nor very clean. Locals used buses (some used bicycles) to get to work (early in the morning, say 6.00 am - 8.00 am) and back home (at about 1.00 - 4.00 pm). There were more buses at those hours but they were more crowded as well. At some itineraries there were buses exclusively at those hours. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

I drove to Lazdijai by my car from Poland via Budzisko - Kalvarija border crossing point. Lazdijai was located in southern Lithuania, 9 km from another border crossing to Poland called Ogrodniki - Lazdijai, along the highway 134 Kalvarija - Leipalingis (then by highway 180 to Druskininkai). I had to drive 664.6 km (402 mi) from my hometown Tychy, Poland to Lazdijai.
