  • Ecology taxes

    by Sonic747 Written Aug 23, 2003
Taxes are collected in this post

Although elsewhere in Lithuania roads are free, you will have to pay money for entering Municipality of Neringa with car (I mean, additional money from that you pay for ferry tickets). This is called ecology fee. You will have to pay more if you are driving a bus, etc.

The post where you should pay is built aside the road to Neringa Municipality, it is not immidietly after the ferry port.

    Wild animals crosses the road

There are some wild animals in Neringa. Although they may go near you and let you to pet them and feed them, be very carefully. There were cases when these animals attacked human. Especially be carefully with non-adult animals because mother could "defend" them.

  • Ferries do not sails 24 hours per day

    Ferry port at Neringa

If you stay in Klaip√ęda or Palanga and want to go to Neringa for one day only, don't be here too long, because ferries ends their work in the evening. Thus you could be stranded at Neringa, and in summer it will be hard to find a place to stay.
Ferry schedules should be available in ferry ports.

    Moteris plajas!

by pmeurice Written Nov 29, 2002

Respect (man) or enjoy (woman) the most amazing Lithuanian tradition for the foreigner: moteris plajas, that is the beach for women. You will find them in Palanga as well as in Nida. There is a specific signal (like a road signal) to indicate that you enter the protected zone (woman) or the forbidden zone (man). In the summer hundred of women, enjoying the sun and the beach naked in full privacy. If you are a man, don't try to play the voyeur game, you might regret it seriously and be injured by the stones they will throw on you.
