The Lithuanian National Philharmonic building (as depicted on our main photograph) is home to the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society. The building has two halls, i.e. the concert hall and the chamber hall. The Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) which was founded in 1940, has been performing at the concert hall quite regularly. However the concert that we watched while on vacation in Vilnius in the concert hall (depicted on our fourth and fifth photographs) was a Sunday Matinee and not those of the concerts regularly performed by LNSO. You may read their official website below to find out the existing schedule and the future performance of LNSO in the concert hall. You may also e-mail to the following address for more information:- firstname.lastname@example.org
Dress Code: No proper dress code is required to enter the concert hall.

The Broadway Night Club (Brodvejus) was opened in the year 2000. It's situated in the very heart of the Old Town of Vilnius. In the club there is a stage, a dancing hall and 250 seating places. It occupies two floors and offers two bars and great music. It's popular not only among Vilnius youth, but also among famous musicians, artists, journalists and businessmen. In the Broadway night club Lithuanian and foreign rock-stars often give concerts.
In the Broadway Night Club there are many possibilities of having a good time: one can dance, listen to live music or just spend an evening with a couple of friends trying cocktails and elite alcohol drinks. Since 2002 the guests enjoy Chinese kitchen fixed by professional Chinese chefs.
The club is popular between Vilnius and foreign public. In the evenings, even on working days, the Broadway club is always crowded, so it's very easy to make new friends and have a good time. Every night in the club DJs perform the best dance music.
The program of the club varies according to the weekday. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays the guests are entertained by foreign superstars' concerts shown on the big screen, on Thursdays live jazz concerts take place, on Fridays and Saturdays the stars of Lithuanian rock-stage give performances, and on Sundays those who like classical music are welcome to enjoy great sound.
Feast celebrations in the Broadway are especially good. The interior is decorated in certain style, the waitresses and barmen wear special clothes and particular program is prepared for the guests. Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, Christmas and New Year Eve are so much fun to celebrate in the Broadway club!

If you expect to have an interesting and active night life with discos, pubs open almost all night then you should go to the biggest cities: Vilnius, Kaunas or Klaipeda. It's difficult to have a good night life in small towns.
Dance Club LOS PATRANKOS in Kaunas, the second biggest city in Lithuania
So far it is the largest, best and most up-to-date night club. You won't be bored here, unless tired.
Dress Code: Please, dress nice and fashionable. Kaunas is Kaunas, the girls are real fashion hounds, so you should really make efforts to be noticed (advice for girls). Believe me, a lot of beautiful girls, fierce competition :)), lack of men... (notice for boys). Children under 21 y.o. are not allowed (the lie...).
Well if there is a slicker entrance to a night club I have not seen it. This used to be a cold war nuclear bomb shelter and is now a hot dance club. If you like the tech/house electro dance till the morning light where your thighs are numb and a beat pulsates in your ear drums and head until you fall asleep the afternoon after then check this place. Progressivy seeing better talent coming from Deutch and England it is a typical dance club. Design is minimulist structure with primary glowing colours abound, with light shows and secluded alcoves to sit a chill and talk. Like most clubs it costs if you dont know anyone. 20lt entrance and the drinks are not priced to be getting drunk.
Dress Code: The whole point. go crazy.
Looks like a southern americana Taven for dancing. Ambiance is almost like an ol' english barn that is turned into a dance hall. Easy to meet locals and the drinks are cheap and you will not find a more stand up or polite group of security anywhere...trust me. Upstairs adjacent to the barn/dance area is a large room with thick oak tables to sit at, chill and drink. Vodka is a definate favourite and can be ordered by the bottle. The decor is like being at your grandmas house and leaves one with a real homey type feel. If you like the pub style thing and to sit and drink with good conversation, then this room is the spot. The dance floor likes to play it list of top 40 mostly and has a big screen with visual and a feed from an upstairs camera watching down.. I love watching me, watching you, watching me, dancing with you.. There are massive picknick style tables and short stools to sit. There is an uptairs that is narrow and really borders the dance floor, so to look down. Really an easy going spot to meet locals.
Dress Code: Whatever's clevaer. No dress code evident. Lowest pretension level.
If your idea of fun is to sit through hours of thumping beat, drinking excellent local beer while watching young Lithuanians cavort and jump - it's hard to call it dancing - then the Broadway Bar is for you. Don't pay too much attention to the rotund bouncers on the door; they're not so menacing as they look. The Broadway Bar has state-of-the art computerised tills, but the staff doesn't seem to know how to use them. You may get lucky and be presented with a bill that is half what you calculated!

When they say Hideaway, they mean it! The entrance is almost unrecognisable, situated as it is at a grey building which could easily be civic offices. The area around is utterly silent. Then you go inside,d ownstairs and hey .. there are people! And having a good time as well! The style is unashamedly American. Ltihuanian style though. I only went for drinks. Cool place!
Dress Code: I didn't wear dungarees, but I still got in.
Tons of genuine Soviet memorabilia scattered around this dark and moody club with several ambiances including dancing areas and bar area. Gives a real taste of what living in the Soviet era may have been like. Not a fake taste like some Western Euro wannabees.
Cool place, visit obligatory! Perhaps a bit youngish mind you, but only slightly so. The "In Your Pocket" guide says it's also a restaurant. Didn't look like it though.
Dress Code: Trendily scruffy will do just fine.
BLUES NIGHTS -If you'll be in Lithuania in the begining of July, and you like open air music festival - you should go to Blues Nights festivals wchich takes part near the town Varniai. Dress Code: A lot of heavy music fans and free people !
As I live in Klaipeda my favorite club was Indigo. Now it is temporarily closed but in the autum we will have it back.
One more realy good club near the see is in Palanga. It is called Gravity.
One of the exiting things for me to do is just go to the see and spend a night there with your friends. It is realy great when you the stars, hear the see and feel the white sand around you.
Indigi is very welcome club. It is not expensive but also good qality is qaranteed. It is club for fun loving students.
Gravity is more expensive club but it is on the shore of the see. When you get out of it in the morning you just have to walk 20 metres to the see.
Dress Code: Dress up for a dance night.
GRAVITY: The best club in Lithuania! There are 2 Gravity, one in Vilnius, one in Palanga. Excellent techno music on there. Very trendy, you should try it if you are an addicted night-clubber. Don't miss it!
The music. And the people. I met many new people there! New friends.
Dress Code: The best you have. Poeple here were all nice clothes, the bouncer won't let you enter if you don't take a minimum care of your look. Maybe if you're a foreigner it will be easier.
A nightlife spot only on July 7th and St.John's day:) but worth visiting any day, not far from Vilnius or Kaunas.
Kernave - a famous archeological place (historical pictures and computer reconstructions before it was burnt - http://www.geocities.com/imantas2/pilys/kernave-en.htm , but landscapes when going to it and there (huge hills with steps to climb on, one of the first medieval cities, but a wooden one then, later it burned), valley, river AND July 7th - archeological days - three days historians, archeologist, craftsmen, folklorists and other build medieval age cities imitating and doing all medieval crafts, baking pig, making beer, making special medieval coins (you can make yourself) and many other fun things. On St.John's day, or as in original Rasos (it was celebrated long before Christianity came here, Lithuanian where pagans, had their own god's pantheon and holidays, later Christianity stepped on the old holidays) or Jonines - it's also the name day of 'jonas /john' in Kernave a wonderful traditional celebrations is going on, with fairs, bonfires during all the night and jumping through them, dancing on the hills, valley, restoring older rituals with songs and some collectives are in the old beautiful traditional clothes (not from XIX century, but earlier). On the upper town of the city they make long street with bars and so on, for those who prefer celebrating in another way. In Kernave there's an archeological museum and lovely church. Jonines are celebrated in many cities, but there's nothing like in Kernave, anywhere else.
