Pakruojis Things to Do
OK, the parks are nice and the farm wanders are restful, too, but the reason to come here is for the finest in traditional Lithuanian farmhouse beer. Some places, like Vyganto, are brewpubs, while others get their beer from local individuals. There are some 19 brewers in the area, which is more than the number of pubs in town, so finding all Pakruojo Alus is a bit of a problem. Still, the quality of brewers like Pardubysio, Jovaru, Vyganto, and others is amongst the highest in the world. The beer is conditioned like English cask ale, with the house character of Franconia's finest, and the strength of Belgium's best.Related to:

Bars in this part of Lithuania are for working men only. They are dark and dank. Women never enter - the one who did was harrassed and left quickly. The beer, however, is outstanding. It is also dirt cheap, at around 1 lita per half litre. You can bring your own plastic bottles and get them filled for take home. Hours are typically 0800-2200. Yes, 0800. The beer is very strong, ranging between 7% and the legal limit of 9.5%. Generally, food beyond bar snacks is not served. Traditional bar snacks include deep fried rye bread, and fresh, sweet peas from the garden.
Dress Code: These are working men's establishments. If you came in dressed for a nightclub you'd run the risk of having your sexuality questioned. Kids, women and metrosexuals need not apply, only serious drinkers with sore backs and labourers' hands.Related to:
