Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Liepaja, in Latvia.
Of you are in Palanga you are only 70 km away from an important town of Latvia. I think you must go there, as this way, you can see as the people have really very different costumes and styles of life, at each of the two countries.
You have direct bus, departing from Klaipeda, in the morning.

If you want to have a calm holiday at as empty as possible beach, then don't expect to find this in Palanga. The beach is always crowded here in summer, even in the evenings. If you like many people at the beach, music, games - Palanga is for you. But at the end of the summer or in September when the weather is still warm, the beach is more empty and you can enjoy calm atmosphere.

Go to a similar place - Sventoji (15 minutes by a mini bus) or hire a bike, there's a path for bicycles it's not difficult to go there and back surroundend by pine tree forest, go to Kretinga: it's a small town, very cute, with another esate, winter garden (orangery) inside, particular but beautiful monastery of bernardins, Lurd (take a mini bus o normal bus from the bus station, 15 minutes to go). If you are not visiting a Curiorian Split - change your mind! You must go there to see fantastic dunes, a Lagon and the Sea. make a day trip or go there for a couple of days (from Klaipeda take a ferry or order an excursion in the tourist office).

It's a little city near Palanga. This city have a beautiful surroundings, big palace of Tiskeviciai with amazing museum and other.
Chapel of Tiskeviciai and church look pretty. Pitty, but this city is not near the sea, but worth to see.
