In town there are many streets for only pedestrians, bicycles or roller blade-skaters. Bicycle routs connect Palanga with its satellite settlements Sventoji (12 km) and Vydmantai (4 km). You can rent bicycles and roller blades in most sanatoriums, rest homes, hotels and guest houses, or right in the streets.
The big wide park to bike is Tiskeviciai park, or differently, Birutes park. It is a place to walk and use bikes, good way to start biking here, later going already to more active streets of Palanga or even continuing to Sventoji and Latvian border to the North or Klaipeda to the South (good condition biking roads).
Bikes could be rented in local agencies, bike rent places.
There's an open air pool with cascades and trampolines called "Linas" , you'll find it easily. Great paths for bicycles through the pine tree forests (in which you can see squirrels!) . You can also play mini-golf, beach volleyball, tennis, bowling.
Equipment:
Bicycles are on rent (5-6 Lt / hour).
As my boyfriend and I like to play pool we often go to practise it;-) The same we did during our holidays in Palanga. We've found quite nice and cosy bowling club where you can play pool as well. What I loved most there: the cosy atmosphere and original interior ;-)
Equipment:
They have 2 tables for billiard and 4 tables for pool, also bowling and cafe-bar.
Behind the beach there is this path which is excellent for a bicylce trip for the whole family.
Equipment:
Bikes can be hired all over town.
You'll find the place for it on the beach, north from the sea bridge. It's clearly seen from the bridge, actually.
Palanga is a very nice place, so I think the best sport for a foreigner is just the bike. This way, you can see a lot more than if you only walk on principal streets...
Equipment:
Rent a bike...
