Miscellaneous: The Baltic States are rapidly developing countries, therefore an up to date guidebook is very helpful. I used the Lonely Planet Guide "Estonia, Latvia & Lithuania which offers information for all budgets on what to see and do, and tips on dining and accomodation.
On my travels to East and Central Europe I always try to get myself the latest edition of the "In Your Pocket" guide. These guides are very up to date, provide useful maps and offer all sorts of practical information for independent travels. Most of the tips can also be found on their webpage.
Lithuania is the cradle of "In Your Pocket" as the first guide was published in Vilnius in 1991. Siauliai is one of the latest additions to the "In Your Pocket" series. I got myself the guide at the Tourism Information Center in Vilniaus street 213.
Miscellaneous: On my trips in Lithuania I always used the Bradt travel guide in English and the Reiseknowhow one in German. If you only travel to Lithuania I recommend buying one or getting one from a library and read up before you leave. If you just visit one of the major cities then it may suffice just to buy the Inyourpocket guide upon arrival.
Miscellaneous: In the tourist office in Siauliai you can buy the Inyourpocket guide which my travel companion did. I bought the pamphlet you see on the photo which is in Lithuanian and English.
