The church was built in 1800 - 1818 in classicism style. Anyway, after reconstructions in second half of 19th century it got neoclassical and neo-baroque views. Personally for me this church is quite unusual and beautiful.
It is known that here one of the first churches in Lithuania stood, from 1387. That time Lithuania got christianized.

Mound is located near river Sventoji and small river Vilkmergele. It is know that castle here already stood in year of 1225. The castle was destroyed in 1391 at time of local battles.
I some places it was written that here stone - castle stood as well in 15th century. Nowadays mound is empty.

The church was build in 1873 by local community of old believers. The church is wooden, seems more like a house. Actually one part of church is used as a home to priest, another one - for mass.
In First World War German soldiers used church for keeping horses, later site was reconstructed. It is pity there was no way to visit it inside, I never been to old believers churches.

First “Lituania restituta” was built here in 1930 to symbolize the creation of new Lithuanian independence (in 1918). Later, as in most of places, Soviets demolished the monument. Only in 1990 it finally got its former look.
There is small park and building of local court nearby monument.

Cinema hall "Draugyste", that means "friendship" is quite typical Soviet architecture building. It was built in 1957.
Such architecture cinema buildings were popular all over Lithuania in Soviet times. Nowadays the function of such constructions changes. Lets say Ukmerge's cinema building now houses part of Ukmerge land museum.
The one such cinema hall in Vilnius "Pergale" nowadays is a big gaming-house with restaurants.

Helpfulness
First church was built here as a temple of pijorai monks, it was and add to monastery. In Russian tzarism times, in 1869 Catholic Church was reconstructed to Orthodox Church. In Soviet times, as usual, it got other functions, not quite religic. Church was used as registry office.
Nowadays church looks Bizantine style, but serves Catholic religion people.

To make car trip I used A. Semaska book “Keliones is Vilniaus” (trips from Vilnius). It is special book, where day long trips from Vilnius are described. This time trip was: Vilnius – Sirvintos – Sesuoleliai - Ukmerge – Zelva – Moletai – Vilnius (could be about 220 kilometers).
It is possible to use bus to Ukmerge as well (from Vilnius, Panevezys, so on).

Favorite thing: Town of Ukmerge has small old town. It is one of rare Lithuanian places that have old towns. Houses of Ukmerge old town were mostly built in end of 19th century – beginning of 20th century. Most of former wooden houses burned in big fire in 1877.
Old town is small; some places are still under reconstruction.
