The present church dates back to 1823 and was finished in 1837. It was built in neo-classical style. Later in the 19th century a transept and apse was added which made the church much bigger.
When we visited it was closed.
The first church on the grounds was built in the 16th century but all the wooden structures didn't survive.

Address: Market square
It is hard to imagine that this large and almost triangular market square was once full of life. These days it's surrounded by small houses, mostly wooden ones. One section is covered in trees and there seems to be a bus stand, although I'm not sure if there are still buses. If so, then they are probably very rare. In the evening the bus stand is used as a meeting point for the local youth to drink beer.

If you want to visit Valkininkai I strongly recommend you to come here by car. There is plenty of parking space on the Market square in front of the church.
Valkininkai is about 50 odd kilometers south of Vilnius on the road to Druskininkai and near Varena.
