River Ula is very famous river for canoeists.
In this rivers is lot of felt trees so your trip will not be boring, by the way, 1-2 kilos are a little bit boring, because you can`t see anything nice around you - just a reeds.
Ula`s banks are amazing, there are lot of scarps, you always could see forests. On the other hand, it's hard to find stops.
I was canoeing from Kriokslis to Ziurai with staying overnight near Kasetos.

Very nice view of Dzukijos National Park is near Puvociai (also there is a campsite). This is a OMINITEL GSM tower. You can climb a lot of stairs to the top of tower and then you will see amazing view - forests in horizon.

Actually I dont remember the name of main street in Varena, but it can be visible when coming to Varena. It comes from Varena district goverment building to main city park.
It was nice to see flowers on the lamps of street - seems they made the same tradition as in Vokieciu street in Vilnius :)

At first in 1897 it was built as a Orthodox church, but later, in 1919 it was changed to Catholic church, but mass was only in Polish language. When Lithuanians wanted to have Lithuanian mass, always the riot started.
In 1933 the construction of church was hightened and expanded in strech.

Ula eye is a source near Ula river.
The source is 4 m above river and the depth is 1,2m.
The water is good for drinking!

When we talk about Varena, we associate it will massive areas of forests and lot of mushrooms that you can get from that areas. Sometimes local people call Varena a capital of Southern Lithuania...
