Mushrooms celebration is one of the funnest celebrations I even been! As Varena place is quite forested and full of mushrooms place, people naturally going to pick up it. Naturally such mushroom fiesta growed up and now it is very popular celebration in Lithuania, central celebration of Southern Lithuania (like Beer fiesta in Klaipeda for Western Lithuanians).
This celebration has lot of nationality - national music, food, costumes, people are relaxed and charing hapiness around. You can just walk from one place to another and try different food (mostly from mushrooms) and for free - local people even offer you to drink some beer or vodka "to better feel the taste of mushrooms" :)
This celebration takes place always in Varena and in the end of September.

Glukas lake and a bar near it is about 7 kilometres from Varena to the Vilnius side. It is nice place to swim and later to sit in the bar near the lake looking to it. Actually the prices here is a bit hightened as it is touristic place. On the way from Glukas lake to main road Vilnius-Varena you can see old tzarist building of railway station (it doesnt work now).
