This is a well designed and commodious café. Food is cooked in front of you in enormous cast iron pans and the salad bar has excellent variety, however, the hot food can be a tad too greasy. Excellent for families and they even have special attractions to keep little people amused. Logo by ginte A pleasant, red-brick cellar atmosphere. The main distinguishing feature of Avilys is its beer, which is cooked up on the premises and made from honey. This is one of the few micro-breweries in the area.
Nice atmosphere, great music and tasteful beer. Leave a Comment

by Dabs This was my favorite restaurant in Vilnius, we ate here twice, both times in the late afternoon around 2 or 3 pm. At that time of day it wasn't crowded at all. The menu was attached to a shovel so of course we had to get a picture of it :-)
On the first go around, I ordered cepelinai (zeppelins) as In Your Pocket said they were "some of the best cepelinai in the city". I only have one other place to compare it to (Stikliu Alude) and indeed I liked the zeppelins here better. But the best part of the meal was the garlic fried bread, covered in cheese sauce-yum! Very conveniently situated in the town centre, this cafe is a great place to have a snack or lunch without straying from your sightseeing route. It offers a wide choice of snacks and drinks. The manager (I think) is Polish so we could ask her questions about the food offered. We had lunch and tried their wonderful cakes. The service was prompt so we could return to our sightseeing soon.
Kibina - a kind of golden baked pies with wonderful filling. We discovered them by looking at what the locals were having and found them delicious. Leave a Comment Theme: CoffeehousePrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Auszros Vartu 5

The cafe takes its name from the statue of the angel that it is located next to. The 'angelic' theme can be found in its decorations and even names of dishes on the menu. And it is the ambience of the cafe that I liked best: the elegant, probably handmade wrought-iron furniture, the sofa with the cushions, the delicate colours of raw cotton and earth. There were some pictures and other decorations that I think were for sale but we didn't inquire about them. The music was unobtrusive and the service prompt. We will always remember the moment we entered the place for the first time (we returned there later that day) and I couldn't get it through to the girl at the bar that we'd like to have something to eat. I tried a few languages but she kept shaking her head. In the end, I said something that sounded like um, um, the way Polish children refer to food, which met with a broad smile and we were given the menu. As we had left our car nearby to go sightseeing on foot, we returned to the cafe on our way back. This time there was a Polish waitress, so we had no problems, especially that she also gave us the menu in English. The first time it was only in Lithuanian, and we had some difficulties finding out what is what.
The first time we had koldunai, baked meat-filled dumplings in mushroom sauce. They were OK, but didn't have much in common with the kolduny my grandmother used to make, and I had hoped to savour that taste again. The second time my husband had goulash soup, which he said was excellent, and we both had 'the angel's kiss', fruit with ice-cream, whipped cream and a sprinkling of chocolate. In spite of its pretty name it was rather disappointing, both its quality and quantity. I wish we had ordered something else instead, Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Uzupio g. 9/2Directions: Right by the statue of the angel

Inside a bar by ginte Be prepared to queue for a table here if you come for dinner. Hearty portions of homestyle foods have made Parliament popular with expats, students, a certain mobile-toting crowd etc. The scene gets louder as you head downward to Ministerija. You'll always find there other foreigner tourists.

Excuse the flash, but look beyond at the city. by Grazina I love it....the Tower stand from top to bottom 326,47 m. in Height, and it spins slowly so you can see all of Vilnius which is very beautiful at night with all the lights. I ordered the SIRLION...make sure your not the driver this night if you order the sirloin (pork). The City's T.V. Tower was the site of the bloodiest episode in Lithuania drive for freedom in the early 90's. In the morning hours of Jan. 13, 1991, Soviet troops stormed the tower which was surrounded by hundreds of unarmed demonstrators, including many women & teenagers, 13 civilian were shot dead or crushed by advancing soviet tanks. Crosses and floweres are placed at the base of the tower in memory of those died, there is also a small exhibition devoted to the massacre inside the tower itself. The top of the T.V. Tower also offers spectaclar views of the entire Vilnius region.

by Carletto76 We saw the sign of this restaurant in the morning and we decided to come back at dinner to see if it was so good as it looked... and it was! It's quite similar to Lokys: you can chose between a nice open-air place (in August it was perfect), or you can go inside and it's wonderful too! The food was typical Lithuanian and was really great, as usual. Excellent beer and cheap prices, this place is really suggested as well as Lokys. Go there and you won't be disappointed! It's a pity they didn't let us take a picture of the restaurant, so you have to go there to see it with your eyes! Gabi in Vilnius by mrdarius This is easily my favorite restaurant in Vilnius. I always try to make it the first thing I do whenever I arrive in Vilnius. My sister and I discovered it some years back while we were both attending university courses one summer. Incidentally, she now lives on the same street as Gabi. It's Lithuanian fare is run-of-the mill but good and very cheap. Things to note indoors are the heavy leather placemats and the extremely heavy chairs. The outdoor courtyard is also my favorite in Vilnius if the weather agrees. WIth all sorts of antiques on the walls and huge tables with matching huge umbrellas, this place takes the cake. One of the best things is that the staff are incredibly nice. Once in a while you get a shy one, but just adds to the atmosphere. Technically "Gabi" means "Clever Female," and you'd certainly be one if you ate here every day.
Cepelinai (zeppelins) with bacon. Hands down. Now that I think of it, I don't think I've ever had anything else there. I know from others that the koldunai and various soups (especially cold beet) are good.
