church inside by Skipka This not that much decorated church is really a place where people should relax a bit. If you are lucky someone will play the organ what makes such special atmosphere you wouldn't go away, doesn't matter if you believe in God or not. Everything is arranged in non-forcible way. Leave a Comment Directions: When you reach the Cathedral then follow the arrows and walk to the Abbey aprox. 20 min by slow tempo

The Benedictine Abbey of Saint Maurice and St.Maur, built in 1910 in Romanesque-burgundian style, dominates the valley and the city of Clervaux. It’s a short drive from the city centre. Unfortunately when you first see it from afar you get a strong impression of the Abbey, but as soon as you visit it you realize that it’s just a 20th century construction (the church is rather plain). There is a an exhibiton with photo named “The Monastical Life” open daily 9am-7pm, which for the serious ones worth a quick look. The Abbey holds Gregorian masses and a mentioned people are welcome to spiritual retreat (there are lodgings). If you like sacred art there is a souvenir shop as well.

This is a very sentimental photo collection housed in the feudal castle upon the city of Clervaux. Though I like taking pictures I seldom visit photo collections, but while this one is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, I thought it deserved a glance. And how lucky I was to follow my instinct. This is one of the largest photo exhibitions, realized in 1955 by Edward Steichen for the Museum of Modern Art in New York. First of all as the title says it is focused on “Man”. Every aspect of human life: love, birth, death, marriage, work, hunger, war etc is displayed through photos from all corners of the world. It created me strong feelings while it proved me once more that human life and feelings despite the differences in cultures, stay universal. So there are more to unite us than to separate… Highly recommended to visit. There is an admission fee of 4.5 euros.

That year it was donated to Luxemburg by the American Government by wish of the creator, Edward J. Steichen.
