Berdorf Travel Guide

 yumyum Says:  If you are lazy and don't want to hike you can just drive to Perekop and park there to have a look. Perekop is a giant rocky facade which can be climbed and you can hike from there into a side valley. 

 yumyum Says:  The hike through the Aesbech valley is very pretty and pleasant. It's shady and you can hear the birds sing. The rocky outcrop by the name of Malakof looks like a giant mushroom. 

 yumyum Says:  Now this cave is interesting. Today it's about 360 square meters but it's entirely man made. Already during Roman times people drilled millstones out of this limestone. 

 yumyum Says:  After a shortish walk through the forest we reached the first sight - the amphitheatre. Sometimes there are actually performences as there are benches in front of the stage. 

 yumyum Says:  To get to some of the beautiful sights in little Switzerland we took hiking path B1 from Berdorf. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes or some kind of hiking boots. BTW, we didn't buy a hiking map for our 2 hr hike but I photographed the map hanging in the car park,... 

 yumyum Says:  Village town hall are always sturdy well shaped buildings. This one is opposite the church. Coming from the tourist information (tourist office or maps posted by the car park) walk past the Mairie (on your left) and then turn left. Then you are at the start of the hike we... 

 yumyum Says:  The tower of the church stands entirely separate. To take a picture of the tower you need to follow the main road a bit further and then you enter someone's porch. I was surprised by the mosaic in the church. 

 himalia11 Says:  This is an interesting little grotto. It's assumed that during the Roman period, people here have cut big rocks for mills - you can see the traces of it. Only some steps away is the "Amphitheater", another little grotto with some benches in front of it, perhaps some events... 

 himalia11 Says:  The "Labyrinth" is a concentration of several rocks, but you don't have to fear to get lost! There are only some interesting rocks! It is some minutes away from the parking at the Perekop, you just have to follow the signs and go down the river Aesbach. We did it the other... 

 himalia11 Says:  From the "rock" there, called "Geierslay", you would have a nice view on the Sûre valley - if the trees weren't so high! Must be perfect in winter! But at least we could see a little bit...You can reach Geierslay if you park at Perekop and go up there. Turn left and soon you...
