Dudelange Travel Guide

Hey, what a place! Tiny and very charming, and a real good choice of genuine french food. Especially (of course) from ´the Alsace.

Favorite Dish: Definetly tarte flambé. A very traditional alsace course, it remembers me, eating with my ex-girlfriend in Strasbourg. The girl is gone for a long time, but my love for this dish stayed!

The celtic celebration is one evening in the year, normaly one or two weeks before St. Patricks day. This evening there are several celtic bands playing folk. More modern (what I dislike) and real good old classic irish and scottish folk music. If you have the luck to stay in Luxembourg during the festival, thats a happening NOT TO MISS. The celebration is getting bigger every year, this year there have been more than 3500 people enjoying it.

Dress Code: Dress like you want and know that kilts are mostely welcomed.

If you come from Luxembourg-city, just follow the road south, through places called Howald, Bivange, Berchem, Peppange, Bettembourg. I just love the names of the cities!
As in most cities, the best look around one can get on foot!

If you like thematic parcs, you could visit Bettembourg, and go to 'Parc Merveilleux' (Park of wonders). Terrariums, aquariums and vivariums displaying e.g. the Amozone-woods and the desert-like regions on earth. Fairytales are made to be seen, there is a zoo, many exotic birds are kept here, lovely flowerbeds, a minitrain, playground, little cars, one can play minigolf, there is a pony-express, off course you find a restaurant here, a self-service, picnic-spots and sometimes concerts are held here.Well, if you are in need of entertainment and don't have the energy to think of something to do, go there!

Favorite thing: A little overvieuw of the city. Taken from a satelite, I really like this picture. In the yellow circle, you can see the sports hall and the open-air-pool.
The blue circle shows you the old churchyard, and in the green square, you will see the main street.

Fondest memory: I live here since 1979, and am rather happy here. I must admit, that the town is very small, and that we have no real big shopping hall, but it is a nice city, and I like it.
