The statue of Guillaume II or William as you wish :) dominates to the square Knuedel. Who was this Guillaume that now he must sit there all four seasons without moving out? :)
Guillaume was King and Grand Duke of Nassau-Orange. He ruled from 1840 to 1849 and, one year before his death, granted the Grand Duchy its first parliamentary constitution, one of the most liberal in Europe at that time. There is also graved the coat of arms of the House of Orange-Nassau and of Luxembourg and the ones of the 12 cantons of Luxembourg. Those who have been to Hague maybe this statue isn't unfamiliar. Yes, there is a copy of the statue, too.
Favorite thing: The Place de Guillaume (market square) is dominated by a statue of Willem II on a horse. Willem II was king of The Netherlands and founder of the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg.
