    Luxembourg has its own airlines LuxAir and when you will book it before (e.g. two weeks or more) it is relatively cheap. There is a great pastries on the board :) you should try. But Luxembourg Airport is relatively small and cosy, really easy for orientation.

    The tiny country does also offer an airport which is situated half way between the capital and the German border. Flights to and from Luxembourg are from a number of European countries and a shuttle service connects the airport with the surrounding regions.

    You can easily get a train and it is very comfortable to make a trip by it because the whole land is around 80 kms long and 50 kms wide. That means you can reach almost every place in 2 hours. Advice for tourists... take one day ticket or more days ticket it depends how far and how much would you like to see. But definitely, buy tickets for tourists because you can cross the country with that and travel in public transport as well plus there is a list of museums you can go to without paying a charge.
    Such ticket for one day costs 9 Eur.

    It is very easy to take a bus because tickets are sold in the buses when you enter it. The ticket is valid for one hour and costs 1.20 Eur. If you need to travel more then you can buy other kind of ticket. This ticket is valid for one hour as I said and when changing buses it is better to show it to the driver when entering the other bus :) otherwise he should look at you very suspiciously.

    Although Luxembourg is divided by steep cliffs into an upper and a lower part of the town it is still small enough to be best explored on foot.

    You just have to make sure that you wear proper walking shoes as Luxembourg's city centre consists of many cobblestoned streets and squares.

    The photo shows the sculpture "La Temperance" by Niki de Saint Phalle. It can be found at the northern end of the Place Emile Hamilius. The sculpture was erected in 1995 when Luxembourg was European Capital of Culture.

    The cobblestoned Grund district in Luxembourg's lower town is connected with the upper town by a free lift, which descends through the cliff.

    Using the lift saves you a lot of energy when exploring both the upper and lower parts of the city.

    The base of the lift can be found in a tunnel near the western end of the Bisserwee bridge.

    There are free toilts as well. The lift leads up to the Place Du St. Esprit at the south eastern end of the city centre.

    I went to Luxembourg by car from West Germany. The distance between Cologne and Luxembourg is approximately 230 km and the best route leads via the E-road E44 along Koblenz and Trier.

    All roads in Luxembourg are very well maintained and petrol is about 15 to 20 % cheaper than in most neighbouring countries.

    Although I didn't use the train in Luxembourg I have been to the train station quite a few times as it was located only 5 minutes on foot from our hotel.

    My friend arrived by train from Switzerland.

    Luxembourg has direct train connections to the following international cities Zurich (CH, 5 h), Paris (F, 2 h), Brussels (B, 3h) and Cologne (D, 3,5 h).

    The main train station is situated about 1,5 km south of Luxembourg's city centre.
