I stay only 4 h in Luxembourg, but the weather at the time was strange: first it was cloudy, then rain and windy (strong wind). After sunny for only 2h, it ws suddently rain again.
Prepare the rain coat or umbrella is better. Is the weather in Luxembourg always like that??
During our time in Luxembourg we used a free map from the City Tourist Office. The map includes the locations of most sights as well as a street index.
Besides free city maps the City Tourist Office provides several other helpful brochures, not only about Luxembourg-City but also about other destinations in the country.
If you are planning to take some daytrips by car you should pick up the "Touristic Map" which shows all principal streets of the country. It was most helpful for our trips.
Luxembourg's City Tourist Office is located at the Place Guillaume II.
Address: City Tourist Office, Place Guillaume II 30, 1648 Luxembourg
Luggage and bags:
There are a wide range of lockers available at the train station for left-luggage storage. Wheeled luggage is recommended particularly if you are having to use public transport to make it easier to travel with your luggage.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: A waterproof (preferably warm) coat is adviseable as there is a lot of rain at this time of year, and the average temperature is only a few degrees about freezing. Sturdy shoes are recommended as there are a lot of slopes and the cobbles can be quite slippery.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: No special requirements.
Photo Equipment: Flash for use in the afternoon and evening - it gets too dark to photograph otherwise around 4pm.
Miscellaneous: The website below offers excellent information on Luxembourg. Ranging from politics, economics, culture, society, traditions...the website was set up for the Luxembourg chairing of the European Union, first half of 2005.
Miscellaneous: Find the Tourist Office quite easily in the Cercle Municipal building (on the right on the photo where the yellow awning is), which is on the Place d'Armes. Also visit the website which has excellent information. They also send brochures free from their e-shop.
Miscellaneous: There is so much you might wanna photograph when you visit here, just make sure your photo equipment is in order. I always have to limit myself because when I have taken a photograph I always see a better angle.
Take things for every weather, you might encounter rainy days. And if you want to sing... do not forget your rain coat.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Everything available, so don't worry if you forgot something.
Photo Equipment: As you like, everything can be bought.
Miscellaneous: Enjoy your stay
