Placebo: If you want a hookah......

by leics Written Feb 24, 2013

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

What makes it so special? Well, I've seen shops with extensive displays of hookahs in various other places, but I wasn't expecting to find one in Luxembourg. Nor have I seen a shop with a display of such lush, green growth (they sell all sorts of things to help out with growing plants indoors).

Placebo has been around for 11 years and, judging by the notice on its door, has had various issues during that time.

But if you want a hookah, I doubt you'll find a better selection anywhere in the country....nor, quite possibly, in nearby settlements in adjoining countries. :-)

Exterior Hookahs..... Lush greenery..... Entrance to Gallerie Mercure They sell *nothing* illegal!

    Pedestrian Streets: Shopping in Luxembourg

by MikeAtSea Written Nov 2, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Luxembourg is very convenient to walk around, many pedestrian streets are available in both the Station District as well as as the Old Town. A variety of shops and markets line the streets making the city a very attractive place to shop.
Due to tax laws many neighbouring countries come to Luxembourg to buy coffee and cigarettes that cost a lot less here.

    Grand Rue: Main shopping street

by acemj Updated May 20, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The main shopping street is Grand Rue just north of Place D'Armes. For three of four blocks, the street is lined with all kinds of shops including many international chains. There are also some restaurants and plenty of people watching opportunities here.

Go there if you are interested in music of Luxembourg composers or some other scores. They don't sell CDs, but a part of the shop is dedicated to musical instruments and accesoires.

What to buy: closed on monday and from 12 to 13.30 h.

    Antique Market: Antique Market

by ATLC Written Apr 4, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

About 20-30 stalls with antiques or nearly antiques.

What to buy: Lots of porcelain, tableware, old books, coins, linen...

What to pay: I think I saw some good deals but also some prices were way off...as it goes with this sort of stuff. We say: whatever a crazy man gives for it....

    Ernster: Books and more Books

by gordonilla Written Feb 22, 2014

This is part of a larger group - I dropped in here to buy a guide for the Luxembourg City. It was quite a good shop with stocks in four languages, newspapers and postcards!

    Luxembourg wine: Luxembourg wine

by ATLC Written Apr 4, 2005

Luxembourg makes its own wine. This light white wine made of the Auxerrois grape (originating from Auxerre in France). I liked it.
