GUESTHOUSES & HOTELS

by Aurorae

You won't find huge, pompous hotels in Luxembourg, perhaps maybe in the Lux City, but I'm not sure even there. Hotels, pensions and guesthouses are all small, cute buildings, decorated with flowers and many with international flags. This pink one is from Vianden. Above is the castle of Vianden. The inscription says "BEIM HUNN" AUBERGE AAL VEINEN. See my Hotel&Accommodation tips for contact details.

SUNSETS

by Aurorae

The most spectacular are in the Luxembourg City! There are some of the most beautiful sunsests I have ever seen. Since it gets dark pretty late in the summer, you should count on a late sunset. Suggested viewpoint - the bridge on the fortress walls which are UNESCO heritage, right above Grund.

VINEYARDS

by Aurorae

All around Moselle region there will be vineyards, more vineyards and nothing but the vineyards. They get even to the river almost! But they are very beautiful, especially if you take a cruise on the river and enjoy the vineyard hills, from the boat the view is excellent.

VEGETA

by Aurorae

What a bizarre thing! Vegeta in Luxembourg (Ettelbruck)! It's an ex-YU shop named after the famous VEGETA spice from Croatia - widely used in ex-YU that nobody else uses/produces (there are some similar spices in Serbia and Macedonia, but under different name). You can put it to any salty food basically. Inside the shop they had all the cult product from all over ex-YU, including CD's and tapes of popular junk turbo folk singers. That was hideous! Moreover, they had huge posters -advertisements on the shop windows for concerts of turbo folk mega stars, it was yucky! You can see them here! I felt like in a trashy provintial underdeveloped village of ex-YU cnturies ago... But at the same time it gave the warmth of home, bizarre!!!!

SHEEP & COWS

by Aurorae

I was very surprised to see the sheep in a big town like Echternach. True, they were in the park area near the lake, but still!!! They were very friendly and not scared at all, they ran to us probably thinking we'd feed them. We picked up some grass not to disappoint them entirely.:-)However, the most peculiar thing are the cows! Their cows are lying on the ground, instead of standing, which I thought cows normally do! I didn't see a single cow standing! All our cows are always standing! Weird!

INTERNATIONAL PRESS

by Aurorae

MOSELLE IN REMICH

by Aurorae

Moselle river is especially broad in Remich, and there it's extremely "used" - very dense camping sites, boat rides, cruises, water scooter, people walking by the river... In the outskirts it's very still and calm, like this scene, in front of Caves St. Martin.

The Land Of The Red Rocks - Terres Rouges

Other interersting places are a few museums (National Mine Museum, Agricultural Museum, Carriage Museum), Park of the Marvels, etc...www.sud.lu
