Luxembourg Region

by Aurorae

Luxembourg region is the region of the capital city and its surroundings. I haven't been further than the Luxembourg City and Mersch in this region, so I can't really tell if there is something else besides that... and from what I've read, it doesn't seem to be a particularly apealing region. Lux City is a definite must, and the rest, well, you can move to other regions! :-)www.lcto.lu

Ardennes

by Aurorae

This is a very big region, with a lot of things to see! The main spots are Clervaux, Vianden, Esch-sur-Sure, Bourscheid castle, etc. It's a beautiful region with green fields and picturesque villages and towns, lots of castles, rivers, a lake and Natural Park...www.ardennes-lux.lu

Moselle

by Aurorae

Moselle is the land of the wine! It's the region along the Moselle river, with hilly slopes of vineyards, cute little towns and exuberant tourism. Everyone rushes to Moselle river, and the towns of Remich , Grevenmacher, Wasserbillig... are full of camps, ships, boats... Wine cellars and caves of Moselle are world famous, especially the sparkling wine.www.moselle-tourist.lu

Mullerthal - Little Switzerland

by Aurorae

This region is called Little Switzerland, for its exuberant nature. It's famous for the waterfalls, slopes, strange rock formations with morbid names, forests and charming towns. There are also nice castles, like Larochette and Beaufort. Do not miss Echternach, a beautiful town on the German border!www.mullerthal.lu

Luxembourg City

by Skipka

As every country has a capital worth to visit, so does Luxembourg :) Relatively little city but safe and clean has features of the big city and meanwhile features of small town. What really makes it unsual it is the part called Grund, part of the old downtown. However, all parts of the city are interesting and full of things to see. In the Cathedral you can find the tomb of Jan of Luxemburg who was also the Czech king, there are lamps watching your steps and everywhere around is a good mood and peace.See more of Luxembourg city here

Little Switzerland is situated in the districh of Echternach and worth to see if you are fed up with city life. You can find here nice tranquil places along the river and great for walk or thinking :)There are also great sandstone rocks where you can hide and play Dracula to scare your friends enjozing the nature around. There is also possibility to see this place from the birdview if you will pay for baloon ride.

Clervaux

by Skipka

Clervaux is the town on the north of Luxembourg around 1 hour by train from Luxembourg city. You can spend the whole day over here because there is a lot to see such as castle, cathedral, abbey on the top of the hill, interesting exhibitions such as exhibition of photographs from all over the world or Battle of Ardennes both placed in the castle or downtown there is a museum of toys and other nice things around. The place is also the centre of agroturistics with possibility to camp or swim in the big pool :) My fondest memory is visit of Abbey such a tranquil place and surrounded by great forests

Eerie Luxembourg

by freya_heaven

Not a fondest memory just a weird one. In a field not far from the campsite there had been a large bonfire prepared with a cross and a huge straw man, (think of the horror film "The Wickerman"). It was very foggy in that area which added to the atmosphere. Later in the evening we smelt burning, presumably from the bonfire. The caravan was shrouded in fog & we started to hear a very strange noise like machinery being dragged along the ground not to far away. Looked out of the window & could not see anything, this noise went on for ages. So between the "wicker man", the fog, dragging heavy metal noises nearby and us alone in a deserted campsite it made for a very restless night! If anyone knows why a large cross and a straw man were being burnt on a bonfire in March, please let me know! (~_~) Many thanks to Waltraud for the below information. The bonfire and the strawman on the cross is...

Waking up to a market outside our window!

by morgane1692

This was very cool. The night before, the scene outside our window was dark and shiny and wet with the recent rain and the sky was aglow with a weird red-gold cloudy tone. Now it was Sat morning and although the sky was still cloudy, the pavement seemed to be blanketed with all manner of lovely blossoms. I couldn't wait to get out there!

Classic Car Rally

by datapanik

By chance my weekend in Luxembourg coincided with a classic car rally. Starting from Place Guillame II in the Old Town a fantastic collection of classic vehicles from the 1930's to the 1970's gathered for a rally heading off into Germany. Each vehicle, with its polished chrome gleaming in the late afternoon sunshine, was announced and cheered as it set off.
