Luxembourg City, the capital and largest city, is divided between an upper and lower town, connected by road and an elevator for pedestrians. Most folks only visit the upper town where the Grand Ducal Palace, the three town squares, the First and Secod World War memorials, and the National Cathedral are located. However, the lower part, called the 'Grund,' is worth a visit. Besides offering a beautiful riverside park and great views of the city walls, the Grund is made up of what were once modest worker's homes but have now been converted into excellent restaurants, bars, and even a few 'country' boutiques.In the north of the country, the town of Vianden has one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. For a small price, you can take a self guided tour of the castle, as well as get some spectacular views out across to the German border. The town below is also very quaint - though quite...
