GRUND

by Aurorae

The oldest and most beautiful part of Luxembourg city! There are museums, restaurants, galleries, concert halls, walking trails, ruins of the fortress whose bullwark is a World Heritage, small river, a church and lots of interesting corners to explore!

ETTELBRUCK

by Aurorae

Just a town, nothing very special, but a crossroad, because it's on the railway, and if you want to visit other regions/places unreachable by bus, but in the area, most likely you'll arrive to Ettelburck by train first and then take one of the buses. The pedestrian area is quite nice, though, and there is this odd monument at its very beginning.

THE LAKE OF ECHTERNACH

by Aurorae

It's a very big artificial lake built for recreation purposes. There is a Recreation centre with boats, fishing, sailing, games, mini-golf, restaurant... There were a lot of campers along the shores as well. The water is very murky, though.

ROMAN VILLA

by Aurorae

This is also sort of tourist trap. There re signs indicating the villa all over the city, announcing something huge and pompous. The villa is situated in a park near the lake and once you get there, there is nothing! There are just a few columns, freshly painted, and remains of the basis of the villa. Inside is the Didactic museum on the life of ancient Romans.

ECHTERNACH

by Aurorae

It's a very very beautiful town in Mullerthal, one of the bigger (5000 inhabitants), on the German border which is along Moselle river. The center is very pretty, especially the main square area with nice colourful facades. There are Roman ruins, lovely lake with big park around, several interesting museums, like Museum of Prehistory. Echternach is famous for the dancing procession, the only oneof its kind in the whole world that takes place on Whit Tuesday. The St-Willibrord Basilica with its crypt is claimed to be the most important religious building in Luxembourg. The old parish church of St.Peter and St.Paul is said to be the oldest Christian sanctuary in the country. There are also old patrician houses as well as the oldest gothic house in Luxembourg.

CLERVAUX PARISH CHURCH

by Aurorae

Parish church is very close to the castle. It was built in 1910 in the Rhenish-Romanesque style, and it's made of local stone. Behind it there is a walking trail throught the woods on the hill towards the Abbey.

CLERVAUX CASTLE

by Aurorae

In the center of Clervaux, a bit elevated from the pedestrian area of the downtown 8but reachable also by labyrinth streets in the old town!) there is the feudal castle from the 12th century which hosts several exhibitions out ofwhich the most impressive one is “The Family of Man ” and it's a world heritage of Unesco. The other exhibitions are Models of Ancient Luxembourg Castles (Admission fees:adults 2,50 EUR) and Battle of the Bulge Museum.

CLERVAUX

by Aurorae

It's a lovely town up north, about 45' by train from Luxembourg City. The downtown is very cute (like all the other cities in Luxembourg), with narrow colourful streets full of flowers, shops, bars, restaurants, museums... On the top there is a castle and cathedral, with a picturesque trail to the abbey. It has 85 kilometres of well marked trails with viewpoints.

LANDSCAPES

by Aurorae

Luxembourg is situated in a very lovely hilly area full of forests, fields, vallies and rivers, lakes and truly relaxing, beautiful landscapes! Take a bus/car ride, especially in Ardennes region which is famous for splendid nature, and enjoy!
