Strictly speaking, this is not a tourist trap, but the contrasts between charming Luxembourg City, and the quarter where the European Union has set up shop, is striking. The European Union court and other related offices are dreary modern buildings with all the charm of a set on 'Star Trek.' Pretend the European Union does not exist - lot's of Europeans do - and restrict yourself to the older parts of Luxembourg City. Leave a Comment

by goingplaces Okay, if you're like me, you like getting stamps in your passport. I know that Luxembourg doesn't require a passport for entrance, but I'd heard that you could get a stamp at the information center in Luxembourg City. I was game, so that's exactly what I did. It wasn't a real passport stamp, though! It just proved that, well, I'd been to the local tourist office. At least it didn't cost anything! Leave a Comment

If you plan to come to Luxembourg, I warmly recommend to use Luxembourgisg Francs, because the exchange rates are so bad if you pay with any other foreign currency Leave a Comment

You should not forget a detailed map of this country! Also it is very hard to understand when people are talking to you so be very careful!

Luxembourg is officially shut on Sundays. At least it seems like it. Most shops, grocery stores and just about anything cheap or useful is shut. In the city of Luxembourg there are some restaurants and over-priced souvenir shops. You can also find a few Tabacs for tobacco products, magazines, newspapers and criminally overpriced soft drinks. Also there is some over-priced ‘antique’ stands in the Place d’ Armes selling broken junk at big prices. Even the Police station in the capital is shut on Sundays (pictured)!
If you need it on Sunday, you had better buy it on Saturday. In fact, you might want to get it on Friday just in case! Leave a Comment
