Luxembourg train by Jelena by Aurorae The coziest way to travel to/around Luxembourg is the train, and for me the most interesting one as well. Pity that the railway network is not so broad, so there are a few places you can go by train inside Luxembourg. However, there are regular trains to Belgium, Germany and France, every hour! Trains are very clean, modern and extremely accurate! You can check the train schedule at the website down under. Leave a Comment

Echternach by Jelena by Aurorae Every major townvillage that has at least some tourist attractions will have a tourist train, very colourful, perating along the city or further around. There is one in Vianden, Echternach, Remich, Luxembourg City, Bourscheid, etc... The fares are around 5-6 EUR for about an hour of ride. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

Luxembourg by Jelena by Aurorae If you don't have a car, the only thing you can rely on is buses. Since the railway network is nto so widespread, there are only two main rail directions, you'd always have to get off the train at some point and take the bus. Most of the places are not connected by train! You can check bus schedules on the link I provided. Leave a Comment

by Aurorae The national airliner is Luxair, but it's too expensive! I went by train from Brussels, and there you can catch any of the low cost airlines. But if you really want to land to Luxemburg city directly, then there... Luxair also has its travel agency. Leave a Comment Theme: AirplaneWebsite: www.luxair.lu Other Contact: www.luxairport.lu/

Remich by Jelena by Aurorae There are many cruise tours on the Moselle river, especially in Grevenmacher, Remich and Wasserbillig. There is some classy de luxe ship Princess Astrid, on which was a Schengen treaty signed. However, I took a simple boat cruise in duration of one hour. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Luxembourg, for all the small size of city and country, is a major European crossroads, which I guess is one reasion why it retains its status and its distinctive atmosphere and culture. Trains converge from Brussels, via the Ardennes, to the north west; from Strasbourg and Switzerland to the south, and from Trier, the Mosel valley and the rest of Germany to the east. Vianden by Jelena by Aurorae This is the easiest and most beautiful way to climb up to the highest hill above Vianden - a cable! The view is magnificent! It takes you to the restaurant/bar where you can rest a bit enjoying the stunning view. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by gnt70 There is a blue ticket that gives you unlimited journeys for all the Luxembourg trains and buses and for one month! Ask for it to the Luxembourg railway station or to the City transport information centre at the basement of Hamilius square. Visit my Metz page for some additional information concerning a special offer for the area of Luxembourg-Lorraine (France) and Saarland (Germany). Leave a Comment Theme: Train

Travelling around Luxembourg by train is easy, comfortable and cheap. The trains are punctual and operate frequently. There is a good bus network but the buses don't operate so frequently as trains. You can purchase one day ticket for 5 Euro and you are allowed to travel by all public means of transport within the whole teritory of Luxembourg. City buses included. The ticket is called OEKO BILLJE but you can say "one day ticket or Tageskarte". Don't forget to validate it. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

In 23 cities and towns in Luxembourg you can use the Velo bicycles for long or short periods of time. I used these in the capital and it was very easy. The following information describes the scheme there, across the country it varies, so please consult the website. Across the capital there are a series of automated rental bicycle stands that are free for shorter periods of time. Simply go up to the computerised kiosk at the larger stand and insert a credit card. Instructions are not that straight forward, but essentially you pay 1 Euro to get a unique code you can use over and over again. When you unlike a bike using your code you can cycle all over the city. When you are done you can go to any of the stands and simply reinsert the cycle into a stand. For short periods (30 minutes) its free and for longer time periods its economical. If you leave the bike unlocked somewhere and its gets stolen – you will be hit with a huge fee on your credit card. It’s a great system. Unfortunately some of the smaller stand areas are sometimes full when you want to leave the bike.
