Favorite thing: The HSBC bank offers the best rates when you have to change your money. Also there are ATM machines and automatic Change machines available beyond the business hours.
Don't wait till the last minute; sometimes the machines are out of money or need service. Power outage is also not uncommon on the island.
2009 Update: As Malta intoduced the Euro as the National currency; the need to change money for most West European visitors is decreased.

Favorite thing: Qawra (and bugibba) is easy to walk around but a map does come in handy, the best map we found was a free one which is on the back of one of the leaflets for the Classic Car museum. on the back is an Ordanance survey type map of Qawra that we found very usefull.

Favorite thing: You can find public Internet access in several stores and bars around. You buy a ticket of the local Malta server and any time left can be used at other access points too.
Next to Internet access these shops also provide cheap international phone connections.

Favorite thing: Just wanted to add to the comments regarding map of Bugibba etc. Maps for each holiday location in Malta, including Bugibba, can all be found on maltamaltamalta.com showing the sights and local restaurants etc. Excellent info on the sights too.

Favorite thing: There is a Tourist Office at Qawra, a little hidden at the backside of New Dolmen Hotel.
Don't expect to be overwhelmed with info; you'll find more on these pages!

Favorite thing: The potable water in Malta is drinkable, but it's a little salty.
Better buy some mineral water at the street stands.
The big water trucks carry swimming pool water.
