If you're not too fond of travelling to Gozo by ferry, or would like a special kind of trip, Harbourair Malta has introduced a seaplane service between Malta (Valletta Waterfront) and Gozo (Mgarr Harbour). The trip costs Lm 15.00 (USD 48 / EUR 35) and lasts 20 minutes.
Reservations may be made on the Harbourair website where you will also find a time-table. Harbourair also operate scenic tours between July and September around the two islands...sounds like fun to me!

Price is reasonable, schedules are convenient but if there is a storm this ship looks like your "bye bye" to this life...

All roads come to Victoria...and all the Gozitians come here on a Saturday morning. At an intersection impatient drivers sail by without using indicators, lorries will cut you off...and then a woman will decide to push a pram through the lot! We saw lorries unloading at intersections, construction crews backing their equipment across roundabouts and farmers driving glorified garden tillers pulling carts down the highway.
Very occasionally we'd come across a short stretches of wide, smooth road. It was like driving on a motorway by comparision. Having a rental car was a great way of seeing the sites and doing our shopping, but the stress made us wonder if getting about by bus might have been better.

The aproximate distance from Malta is one hour by ferry. Ferrys depart regurarly from Malta, in winter there were about 4 departs a day. You can take your car too, if you have hired already one in Malta. By this way, you will see everything you have to see in Gozo, in one day!
* I loved the evening colors, on the way back to Malta.

We've been going to Gozo for a number of years now and generally try to get over at least once a year. We love it. The people, the pace of life, the scenery, the food.
