The biggest sandy beach on Gozo - and possibly nicer than the few on offer in Malta. Until recently, the beach was unserviced in any way, but now there is a good bar also selling snacks. Toilet facilities available close by too. Parking is to either side of the long narrow road that leads to the beach.
The colour of the sand is renowned for being red, but we thought it was more just dark gold. There are quite a few large pebbles on top of (and hidden in) the sand - so mind your toes! Still, a very nice place to relax for a while in the sun, if nothing else!

If you ask anyone who has visited Gozo to name a place there, it is likely to be Xlendi!
It is such a small resort but has a great intimate atmosphere. Several shops and bars, and enough restaurants to be fairly spoiled for choice, but not a lot of space to spread out on the tiny beach! There is space to sunbathe on the flat area of rocks to one side too.
Unique Suggestions: It is possible to get a great view of the whole beach area by climbing just a 'few' steps up the side of the cliff to one side of the beach. It really is worth the relatively little effort that is needed.
Fun Alternatives: For a much bigger beach but not much else there, head for Ramla Bay on the north coast. You will need to cross the whole island but by car it took us about 15 minutes!

The biggest tourist trap in Gozo especially in midsummer, is sunburn - so take your sunblock and don't lie in the midday sun without covering up

We've been going to Gozo for a number of years now and generally try to get over at least once a year. We love it. The people, the pace of life, the scenery, the food.
