The views back across the Marsamxett harbour to Sliema are lovely. There's a mixture of boats in the harbour - small pleasure craft, larger yachts and the cruise and daytrip boats of the various cruising companies.

The promenade actually runs for many, many km. You can walk on a well paved promenade, by the sea (or harbour) right from St Juilans, through Sleima, Gzira, Ta' Xbiex, Msida to Pieta. Almost all of this promenade has nice views, trees planted along it, kiosks for refreshments, pavement cafes and benches to rest on. To walk the entire length would take maybe 3 hours. There are a few shabby bits around the edges of Gzira, especially where it approaches Ta' Xbiex, but the shabbiness is kind of appealing and gives an insight into how the whole of The Strand used to look before Hi-rise hotels & apartments took over.
