Marsaxlokk's Open Market is opened from 7:00am to 1:00pm.
For the best of it, it is recommendable to start the visit early in the morning.
Around noon the sellers start to collect all the stuff and close the stalls and until 1:00pm it will not be much left to see.

If you stand at the head of the harbour and look out of the bay, you might see at the left the huge power station. And if you look at the right hand side of the bay, the huge cranes of the container freeport. These are a bit of a blot on the landscape, but it is quite easy to ignore them. It's less easy to ignore the container port though if you go around the bay to the now inappropriately named "Pretty Bay". This is a nice sandy beach, but the container port now seems to be right on top of you ;-S
I didn't bother to take pictures of these things, but if you look at Hockeylady's Marsaxlokk page she has a nice picture of the container port as seen from Pretty Bay.

The water around Malta is soooooo clean and crystal clear everywhere. This is the only place that I saw(and in just a very few spots!) where it was not. Near a few of the boats...there were some dead fish and some oil floating in the water. It was not really bad though and probably could not be avoided with all the fishing boats in the bay! The area where this picture was taken is probably where it was the worst. It still was not that bad,but I would not want to swim in this immediate area.

The bay at Marsaxlokk is such a beautiful place, it's almost impossible to take a bad photo here. That's if you avoid the two blots on the landscape, the container port & the power station.
