Another nice view over the church you get from Santa Marija, the new part of the town which lies on the other side of the valley...

With its 6,500 inhabitants, Mellieha is considered one of Malta's largest village located in the northwestern part of the island.
Due to its large sandy beach, Mellieha is among the most popular tourist destinations during the summer months despite the fact that there's very little to do day or night, apart from the entertainment provided by the hotels, some bars and tavernas.

The water is clear and the beach is really sandy, no stones etc... I found it even cleaner than Golden Bay.
There are many kiosks selling fresh and cold fruitslads or icecream if you like and you can rent an umbrella and sunchairs, which is quite comfortably for a day a t the beach I think.  View from the Sanctuary

The large collection of votive offerings left over the years has been re-ordered and makes a fascinating display in the sacristy and corridors. The restoration uncovered a well and a charnel pit, both of which now lie under perspex covers.
The small chapel contains a fresco which according to tradition was painted by St Luke (who was shipwrecked on Malta with St Paul). It has been dated to the early 14th century. Leave a Comment

Mellieha Bay lies on the northern side of Malta island about 13km from the airport.
Othe two beautiful bays, Ramla and Paradise, are situated on both sides of Mellieha Bay.
The apartments located on the hill with the view of the bay are considered one of the most expensive in Malta, among the residents being ambassadors, business man and other rich residents.

The parish church inside is a wonderful surprise.
The whitest white possible and only few decorations, also white, are highlighting the elegant altar and the painting in the altar.
By the time of my visit, it was celebrated the mass in the church and I have to admit that attending to a part of it was really touching.
