The lovely yard by Bigs In front of Our lady of Mellieha there is one of the most picturesque squares of Malta I think. I always found it as a qualm hideaway right next to the loud Mellieha main street. In the middle of the square there is a fountain and in one corner of the yard there are a view small trees. Really romantic! One of my favourite places in Mellieha Leave a Comment

Parish Church of Mellieha by Bigs It's the biggest church of Mellieha and its place on the edge of the Mellieha Ridge gives it a mighty look I think. You get the nicest look on the church from the rooftop terrace of the Antonin Hotel I think. (there is a pic in the hotel travelogue) Another nice view over the church you get from Santa Marija, the new part of the town which lies on the other side of the valley... I also liked the interior of the church. It's held in white and is very simple decorated... Leave a Comment Address: Parish SquareDirections: Mellieha

With its 6,500 inhabitants, Mellieha is considered one of Malta's largest village located in the northwestern part of the island. Due to its large sandy beach, Mellieha is among the most popular tourist destinations during the summer months despite the fact that there's very little to do day or night, apart from the entertainment provided by the hotels, some bars and tavernas.

Mellieha Bay by Bigs I really liked the beach at Mellieha bay. Ok, it gets quite crowded, especially on weekends when all the Maltese people are going to the beaches too. The water is clear and the beach is really sandy, no stones etc... I found it even cleaner than Golden Bay. There are many kiosks selling fresh and cold fruitslads or icecream if you like and you can rent an umbrella and sunchairs, which is quite comfortably for a day a t the beach I think. The sun cream don't get too close to the sand in this way :) Leave a Comment Address: Mellieha BayDirections: From Valetta over Mellieha: Bus Nr. 45 (18 cents), 48(40 cents) From Sliema: 645 (40 cents)

Bay View by Bigs The most expensive part to live in Mellieha is Santa Marija and indeed it's very nice there.... Most houses have a view to the sea from above there. You have to climb many steps of a huge stair to get there, if you don't have a car. Just turn right behind the Maritim hotel.... Leave a Comment

View from the Sanctuary courtyard. by leics ........lies underneath what is now the parish priest's house. Originally a natural cave (probably in use as a holy shrine during the 1400's), it has been extended over the centuries and, more recently, renovated and restored (the last Pope visited in 1990). The large collection of votive offerings left over the years has been re-ordered and makes a fascinating display in the sacristy and corridors. The restoration uncovered a well and a charnel pit, both of which now lie under perspex covers. The small chapel contains a fresco which according to tradition was painted by St Luke (who was shipwrecked on Malta with St Paul). It has been dated to the early 14th century. Leave a Comment

Mellieha Bay lies on the northern side of Malta island about 13km from the airport. Othe two beautiful bays, Ramla and Paradise, are situated on both sides of Mellieha Bay. The apartments located on the hill with the view of the bay are considered one of the most expensive in Malta, among the residents being ambassadors, business man and other rich residents.

Sanctuary Gate in Mellieha by Bigs All on this square is very picturesque I think, It starts with this iron gate, which is also very beautiful I think. I liked the view through the gate at night time, when the orange lights are shining through from the main street. It was too dark to take a pic unfortunately :( Leave a Comment Directions: Mellieha

The parish church inside is a wonderful surprise. The whitest white possible and only few decorations, also white, are highlighting the elegant altar and the painting in the altar. By the time of my visit, it was celebrated the mass in the church and I have to admit that attending to a part of it was really touching.

Typical street scene in Mellieha by Bigs The best thing in Mellieha is to wander around the side streets for a while. Away form the main street this is Malta, in its typical way I think. I used to take an evening walk around town and I loved the empty streets, every now and than some people are putting their chairs on the street and talk with their neighbours.... Some of them will geet you and have a chat with you either. It's nice! At daytime you will find many beautiful details on the house walls.... Leave a Comment Address: All streets except Borg G.
