I went to Malta every summer for virtually my whole childhood up until I was 18 because my grandparents had bought a place in mellieha near the santa maria estate. it was amazing watching it change so much as it tries to come into line with the rest of Europe but if there was on eplace that I would recommend it is Paradise Bay. You need to head towards the Gozo ferry and you should see signs before. It has become a lot more commercial over the years but is still my favourite beach in mellieha.

The most expensive part to live in Mellieha is Santa Marija and indeed it's very nice there.... Most houses have a view to the sea from above there. You have to climb many steps of a huge stair to get there, if you don't have a car. Just turn right behind the Maritim hotel....

I really liked the beach at Mellieha bay. Ok, it gets quite crowded, especially on weekends when all the Maltese people are going to the beaches too.
The water is clear and the beach is really sandy, no stones etc... I found it even cleaner than Golden Bay.
There are many kiosks selling fresh and cold fruitslads or icecream if you like and you can rent an umbrella and sunchairs, which is quite comfortably for a day a t the beach I think. The sun cream don't get too close to the sand in this way :)

The main street of Melleiha. Usually a melting pot for all broken exhaust or something like that. It's really noisy, and I'm used to traffic noise from home. It ś very narrow, so at some places it's hard when a bus meets a car....it always causes trouble here....
Well the best thing is to watch the party going on, it's never boring. even at 4 am a ferrari might pass this narrow streets.... :)
Away fromt he fact that it's noisy, all shops are situated here. So if you need a newspaper a postcard or some medicine, you will al find it here...

The best thing in Mellieha is to wander around the side streets for a while. Away form the main street this is Malta, in its typical way I think. I used to take an evening walk around town and I loved the empty streets, every now and than some people are putting their chairs on the street and talk with their neighbours.... Some of them will geet you and have a chat with you either. It's nice!
At daytime you will find many beautiful details on the house walls....

All on this square is very picturesque I think, It starts with this iron gate, which is also very beautiful I think.
I liked the view through the gate at night time, when the orange lights are shining through from the main street. It was too dark to take a pic unfortunately :(

In front of Our lady of Mellieha there is one of the most picturesque squares of Malta I think. I always found it as a qualm hideaway right next to the loud Mellieha main street.
In the middle of the square there is a fountain and in one corner of the yard there are a view small trees. Really romantic! One of my favourite places in Mellieha

It's the biggest church of Mellieha and its place on the edge of the Mellieha Ridge gives it a mighty look I think. You get the nicest look on the church from the rooftop terrace of the Antonin Hotel I think. (there is a pic in the hotel travelogue)
Another nice view over the church you get from Santa Marija, the new part of the town which lies on the other side of the valley...
I also liked the interior of the church. It's held in white and is very simple decorated...
