There is no airport on Gozo so most people arrive by ferry from Malta. The regular ferry service (every 1/2 hour or so) runs from Cirkewwa on Malta across the narrow Gozo Channel to Mgarr. There is also a once a day ferry from Valletta (well, from the suburb of Pieta).
In addition there is a heliport on Gozo, so you can travel by helicopter from Malta to Gozo if you want. Helicopter transfer is included in the price of a two centre Malta/Gozo holiday with the holiday company we used. We prefer the ferry though!

With a long time tradition, the regular ferry service from Malta to Gozo stops to Mgarr harbour.
The ticket bought at the departure from Cirkkewa, Malta is also valid for the return that’s why at the embarkation on the ferry in Mgarr there is no need for checking-in.
The trip takes around 30 min and a beautiful view of Comino Island (the third inhabited island of the Maltese archipelago) can be admired.
