you can go down to Gnejna Bay this is one of the nicest beaches in Malta however be careful when going into the water as the seabed is quiet pebbly ! I have loads of memories on this beach ! It has a rocky section and a sandy section so anyone can choose his choice. In Summer, it will more active than in Winter. In Summer people go there to hang around, to swim and make Bar-bi-ques. In Winter, since there is also a green area people go there to buy from the stalls, to walk around the countryside and to fly small helicopters or kites.

On your way down to the beach in in Mgarr called Gnejna Bay there is this old castle which belonged to this Baron they say he was shot in the entrance however today it is being used for Sumer weddings as it has more of an outside area than an inside section. The Palace is gorgous I simply love love it and I always wanted to get married here.

....which is about half a mile's walk from Mgarr, in the 'hamlet' of Zebbieh.
This is a World Heritage site, although not particularly easy to find (it's not well-signed). There are fewer remains still in situ than in other Maltese temple sites, but excavation in the 1960's provided stratified evidence (pottery etc) which proved occupation from around 5000 BC and thus underlined its importance. One stone, lying almost hidden in the grass when I visited, has five libation depressions in it; whether these were for water, or blood, or some other liquid I have not been able to discover.
Worth a wander, if time allows; it may be shut but you should still be able to look through the fence. Only open on Tuesdays, from 11.30 to 1pm

This temple site actually has two temples side by side, one slightly later than the other (they date from around 3600 to 3200 BC). Part of a paved 'corridor' remains, and one of the temples still has three 'apses' visible.
It's only open to the public on Tuesdays, from 9.30 to 11, but you can at least look through the fence at other times.

Q: Hi, I'm looking to stay in Gozo in the summer and have seen a lovely hotel in Mgarr. I can't work out what the beaches are like...
A: Gozo and Malta aren`t known for their sand(or grass). :-) Plenty of sun, though!

Rough Weather at Gnjena Beach in Mgarr !
The sea around this area can get very rough please do not attempt to swim in the Winter season when the sea is rough. Many people who visit Malta every year die like this and its not a very nice way...
