Long Island Bar: Cool gay-friendly place to drink & dance in Sliema

by brittwit

Located on Sliema front, this bar was THE hotspot for the gay community last year (not sure if it will be this year too..very fickle community!) Although the outdoor area is a bit small for comfort, its more of a meeting get-together place so having a crowd to shoulder your way through is welcomed. Indoors nice elegant decor of bar and at the back a small dance area. Drinks bit expensive but hey its Sliema.

The Black Pearl: Disco on the Popeye Ship

by brittwit

The Black Pearl ship is better known for its restaurant, the Mare Nostrum, but on Wednesday nights the Black Pearl holds a disco below decks. This occasion is targeted mainly at the over-30 party animals and its well attended. Drinks are VERY cheap (eg. 50c/about 1 euro for glass of wine or local beer). Music is great and its got loads of space to jiggy around in. A fun night guaranteed in a unique ambiance.

Gianpula, Numero Uno: Malta nightlife: Open air clubs!

by Dwardumt

It's amazing how few people outside Malta know about the open air clubs that open during the summer months (June - Sep). Clubs like Gianpula (gianpula.com) and Numero Uno (clubnumerouno.com) are large open air clubs with surrounding gardens and give you a completely different taste of nightlife in Malta. After a hot summer day at the beach (or a hot week working) they're perfect to unwind. Drinks are pretty cheap too compared to European standards. These clubs attract a slightly more grown up audience (20+) and the atmosphere is much more relaxed than in Paceville. It's not very easy to get to Gianpula (outskirts of Rabat) and Numero Uno (Ta Qali (pronounce "tah aali", close to the national football stadium), but taxis aren't very expensive and travel by "mini buses" is pretty cheap too and great for travelling in groups.Music styles are mostly club/trance, but also R&B and hiphop in a...

The Casino, St. Julien's: An excellent casino

by hopang

The Casino is located next to the Hilton at Portomaso complex at St. Julien's on the main island of Malta. This is by far the most beautiful and elegant casino in Malta. No entrance fees are required to enter the casino. Nevertheless your photos will be taken at the entrance and you will be given an entrance card to the casino. As in many other large casinos in Europe, The Casino is no exception. Plenty of classic table games and slot machines are available for the pleasure of the gamblers. No proper dress code is required to the casino. Decent clothing is necessary.

Cinemas

by dowdow

There are five cinemas in Malta, in St Julians, Fgura, Valletta, Bugibba and Marsascala, all showing the latest movies. The one in St Julians, the Eden Century, is the largest, having sixteen cinema screens and an IMAX theatre as well, plus they also have a special offer on Fridays on a certain film :) * The cinema in Valletta, the Embassy, is slightly cheaper than the other cinemas.
