A tiny village ...

by SanguiniA

Safi is a small village in the south of Malta, near Zurrieq. Maybe if you use a rental car to go and visit the Blue Grotto, Wied iz-Zurrieq or the Mnajdra neolithic temples you can pass through here to see a quiet, traditional village. The main attraction here is the windmill, which has been recently renovated.

Fomm ir-Rih

by SanguiniA

This is a hidden gem a few kilometers away from the Bahrija village. The name translates to "Mouth of the Wind" which is quite appropriate since when the wind is blowing from a particular direction it is felt extra strongly here, and the sea can get very rough forming a particular spectacle. The beach is good for swimming, provided it is not windy. When it is windy the sea can get rough and some debris can accumulate in the bay. The beach is accessible from a narrow trail passing in between the fields and clay deposits.

Sa Maison Garden

by Xemx

This is a small, but pretty, garden known mostly for its military heritage. It is overlooked and forgotten by many people but I wanted to include it because it was one of my favourites many years ago...yes, I'm also guilty of forgetting about its existence, but today I paid it a long overdue visit just to take this pic. I don't know why I stayed away for so long but thanks to VT I've rekindled my interest for the garden. The garden is also know as il-Gnien tal-Milorda (Her Ladyship's Garden) in memory of Lady Julia Lockwood who lived there between 1842 and 1856. Her house was later demolished and the garden taken over by the military, who were responsible for its maintenance until 1903, when it was taken over by the civil government.Apart from the several regimental crests which are engraved in the bastion wall inside the garden, one can also find a small model of a castle carved in...

A Touch of China

by Xemx

Tucked away in the small town of Sta. Lucija, this garden isn't well known by locals and foreigners. It's worth a visit if you've got a bit of extra time, and for the locals, it is a place to forget the fast pace of everyday life. The Chinese Garden of Serenity could not have been named more suitably because an aura of peace and tranquility surrounds you as you enter the main part, which is a large pond surrounded by Chinese wooden structures and covered walk-ways.The garden was opened in July 1997 and was based on a design by the Suhzou Design Institute of China. For more details one can contact the Sta. Lucija council which does a great job at maintaining the garden. A colourful brochure can be downloaded from the website below. It contains more photos and a map with a complete step-by-step explanation of the symbolism of the garden. To get to the garden, buses 15 and 115, all leaving...

The Malta International Air Show is held annually over the last weekend of September. If you are in Malta around about that time then this spectacular event is worth visiting. In between the displays there were static displays of aircraft and three different car clubs: Club Malta, Island Car Club and the Malta Classic Car Association. Some of the aircraft which took part in the flying display were:F-16 and PC-7 from NetherlandsFour German TornadoesTwo Alpha JetsA Harrier Jump Jet from BritainThe grand finale of the air show was dedicated to the MB-339s of the outstanding Frecce Tricoloi. If You Wanna Discover Malta...

by Propermark

If you just wanna discover Malta everyday life and local customs there's one thing you can do: go to the less touristy spots like in the centre of the island and you'll find a lot of differences...A car would be the best solution to get around the maltese islands...

Dingli Cliffs

by Taffster

This spot is a bit back and beyond and is kind of like blink and you miss it. Nevertheless, if you hire a car and find yourself on the road, get a map and head for Dingli cliffs. Theres not a lot in this area but its nice for an endless view of sea meets sky. The sheer drop is pretty breath-taking too - just dont stand too close to the edge!

The Pub

by Taffster

The Pub, in the heart of Valetta, Oliver Reed's favourite bar when he visited Malta. The Pub is also where Ollie drank his last drink. Whilst filming Gladiator, Ollie collapsed in The Pub and died shortly after. Keep your eyes peeled if you're looking for The Pub - its tiny! You couldn't swing a cat in this place but it was brilliant to stop by and raise a glass to Ollie.

Ggantija temples

by croisbeauty

Ggantija temples is situated on island of Gozo. See the spectacular giant free-standing Megatiths from the neolithic peroid of Malta.Do not even try to pronounce the names of the spots in Maltese, I trayed it and the locals couldn't understand me at all. Just show them the map instead.
